Summary
In order to get over his ex who is getting married, Kevin forces Neil to go into a pact with him: they each have to find each other’s dates to the wedding, since clearly Kevin can’t be trusted to find someone good for himself, and Neil is just hopeless.
Neil thinks he’s found a good match for Kevin in Andrew: he’s good at exy, he can tolerate Kevin at his worst, and he always turns up whenever Kevin and Neil are out and about. Neil is pretty sure Andrew is half in love with Kevin already.
Andrew is, obviously, very much into Neil.

But with these hookups came the in between moments, or the before and after moments. Sometimes Andrew would stay or show up early with takeout, and he and Neil would just sit and talk. Sometimes, if they were at Andrew’s, he would run song lyrics by Neil first, playing the guitar chords and testing out different phrases before kissing them into Neil’s skin.
Somewhere, in these moments, it had become more for Neil. It had become searching for Andrew’s smirks when Neil complained about a difficult translation piece. It had become laughing at Andrew’s red face when he ate anything remotely spicy. It had become playing footsie while watching old cartoons on Neil’s couch. It had become going over to Andrew’s to hook up, but falling asleep to Andrew playing his guitar instead.

Summary
Neil has this friend that's crazy interested in his best friend, Andrew. He thinks he's smart, talented, funny, handsome - but despite what Neil says, Andrew doesn't seem the slightest bit interested in meeting this guy whatsoever. Even his friends all think this friend isn't compatible with Andrew, and it gets to the point where Neil himself starts believing it's true.
The only problem is...there is no 'friend'. Or rather, the 'friend' is Neil.
