Summary
Nathaniel watches him with a sharpness that betrays his casual slouch, his back resting on the arm of the couch. His legs are stretched out in front of him, covered by a thick quilt. There’s a movie playing on the large television but Nathaniel doesn’t seem interested in it at all.
This is the first time Andrew’s met the man. All of his prior correspondence—his responsibilities, his hours, his pay—has been with his enigmatic and slightly irritating uncle and he’d be lying if said he wasn’t looking forward to today. Eventually, Andrew catches his breath and sits up. Neil slowly opens his eyes to see Andrew still hovering over him. The traces of light that reach the rooftop from the lampposts in the parking lot make him glow, almost.
