"Lumine..."
Why?
"Lu...Lumine..."
What did I do to deserve this?
"Lu...Lumi...Lumine...why?"
"I'm sorry Aether. I can't let this go on. It had to be done."
Aether looked at her with dead eyes. Every sparkle of life had dissapeared. He looked down at himself. He looked down at the sword that pierced right through his chest.
"Aether!" Xiao screamed.
(Please look at the tags! This story contains violence/selr sacrifice and describing of wounds. But it also contains a little romance.)

Summary
Xiao exhaled, mask vanishing, shoulders relaxing by a fraction. Aether walked over the wet grass, breastplate catching soft glints, midriff flecked with droplets, sheathing his sword with a practiced flourish.
“You’re hurt,” Xiao noted, eyes narrowing at a shallow cut across Aether’s forearm.
Aether smiled “Wait until you see my side”.
Xiao’s frown deepened. He stepped closer without hesitation, the marsh's soft earth squelching beneath his boots. His golden gaze flicked to Aether’s side, just beneath the breastplate, a smear of blood had begun to bloom over his ribs, dark against pale skin.

Summary
The river takes Aether without warning.
Cold, fast, and merciless, it drags him under before he can think, before he can breathe, before he can do anything but panic. The current steals his strength, the water his air, until there’s only his burning lungs and the desperate certainty that he isn’t going to make it back to the surface.
He uses his last breath to call out for help.
