Kim Dokja reasonably took Yoo Joonghyuk’s clinginess towards him during his rut as the regressor’s biological instincts to seek comfort during an alpha’s rut (being clingy) and chronic trust issues (being clingy to him of all people). He genuinely could not comprehend what it was about his bland beta self that Joonghyuk prefers over, say, Lee Seolhwa’s refreshing apple mint scent—especially when he considers that they were once mates.
His first attempt to make sense of the mystery fell short as the glare the alpha shot him in response to the question was so scathing he thus learned to never bring it up again.
