It wasn't fascinating, the way the boy didn't know whether to lean into the touch or away from it, confused by the comfort and the pain it offered in equal measures. It wasn't. Armand could do the same thing — did do the same thing, whenever Louis deigned to touch him at all — and Louis still thought he was boring. It couldn't be this that had captivated him.
But that didn't mean it wasn't fun.

In the hallucination, this beautiful, cruel dream Armand has painted for him, Lestat feels no pain. There is no ache in his bones, no stiffness in his joints, no perpetual cold. There's just this: the sweet, electric tang of the air after a summer storm on his tongue, soft lips on his cheek, strong arms around his waist.
It's the last one that does him in, more than anything else. Armand had shattered his body and his heart, had reduced him to this vile, crawling thing he'd become, had mutilated his Nicki, murdered his Claudia, seduced his Louis. And all of it — every lie, every blow, every betrayal and every wound — all of it crumbles away in the face of the simple act of being held.
Lestat turns, brushes his nose against Armand's, and says, "Okay."

“I told you both what they were, you just didn’t listen,” Lestat snaps, and at least they’ve had this fight already in the time since that fateful reunion – that telling them, vaguely as he did, that vampires outside of New Orleans were vicious doesn’t fucking count for anything – and Lestat seems to remember that around the same time Louis does, because he shrinks a little. Runs a hand back through his hair, looks up at Louis through his painted lashes. Then, softer: “You still think I am withholding?”
Which - - fuck. Louis laughs.
“Yeah, baby, I do.”

A year after Louis and Lestat reunite, they're still figuring it out. Daniel calls it out, Louis tries to move them forwards, and maybe they just fuck instead.
