Summary
Kynan quickly realizes that Jarett must have settled himself where he'd been before he had barged in: back to sitting outside his door and making sure Kynan doesn’t do anything rash. A heavy, satisfied feeling settles in his gut, and Kynan finds himself both ashamed and pleased to note that someone actually gives a damn if he survives the night.
Well, at least someone is being paid to make sure he survives the night. Maybe that’s enough.
