It’s not that Jiu is surprised by Sua’s presence. She’s been with them since Yubin, more frequently since Handong, and in the past year she has entered the kitchen at seven every morning to make a pot of coffee before leaving for the mortuary.
Maybe it’s just the sight of her, small with legs tucked up on a stool around the kitchen island, as still as a shadow even with skin so ivory she almost glows.
Familiar. Like she's always been there.
