It was like that saying that happiness can only exist by knowing sadness, and all that, and now that Eito knew love he also knew the fear of losing it.

He hadn't wanted or asked for Sirei to overwrite Eito's personality entirely, leaving behind someone who just simply isn't made for battle. Someone who needs to be protected.
