Summary
“Probably been a minute since they got any,” Eddie says, voice dry.
“Been a minute for you too,” Buck shoots back, and he doesn’t mean for his voice to dip, or for him to step forward in that same breath.
Too late to take it back now though; the context, the subtext, the combination of it all, has propelled them right over the invisible line they’ve flirted with for nearly a decade, a line they tease and retreat from in equal measure, and— Here’s the thing, right?
Eddie won him.
Or, Eddie wins Buck at the auction, and Buck figures the least he can do is make the victory worthwhile.

Summary
There was a space, in the silence, where he could have said something; where Buck could have. Neither of them spoke.
Eddie moved again. He told himself he was just settling in, and maybe there was some truth to that, the indent of Buck's body in the mattress creating a sort of inevitable gravity, drawing Eddie in.

Summary
"I miss you."
Eddie didn’t mean to say it, didn’t even know he was thinking it. Buck shifts a little restlessly.
"I literally could not be closer to you," he says dryly. Which isn’t true, after all. They’re under the same covers, Buck’s body warming him as his must be warming Buck’s, but there’s plenty of space between them.
The only way to change things is to find a way to say what you want.

Summary
“Rav, I’ll just be—”
He glances up, and that is not Ravi Panikkar. Instead, it’s Eddie Diaz who stands there in full goalie gear, grinning down at him like they’re old friends. “Hey, man. Just thought I’d say hey. Gonna be fun being on the same team for once, yeah?”
Buck scoffs, standing and grabbing his stick. “Right.”
“C’mon, man. We’re teammates now.” Eddie tugs off a glove and holds out his hand. “Fresh start?”
Fresh start. Sure. Like he’s not stepping into Chimney’s spot, acting like they’re not massive boots to fill. Like, he hasn’t spent years being a massive dick every time they’ve gone head-to-head. Like Buck is supposed to just—
Buck shakes his head, huffing before pushing past him, shoulders colliding roughly as he makes his way out of the locker room.
