Summary
Harumasa looks at him in a way that Lighter could only describe as something that looks a lot like love and hurts a lot like hell and says, “Ask me out for real, Lighter.”
“You sure you don’t want me to save it for another time?” It’s a poor attempt at a joke from Lighter, but he knows there’s no weaseling out of this one. He’s anything but an undefeated champion in Harumasa’s presence, yet he’s quickly finding out that that’s an easy title to give up if it makes the guy smile at him like he’s hung the stars in the sky or something else just as impossible. The thing is, he would if Harumasa asked—how hard could it be?
Lighter finally asks Harumasa out on that date they've managed to put off for so long.

The biker reaches up to cup his cheek tenderly, leaning forwards to press a soft kiss to the center of his forehead as if his tongue wasn’t just down Harumasa’s throat not even five seconds ago and whispers, “Happy birthday, Harumasa.”
It’s like a punch in the gut when he realizes what just happened.
All the pampering, all the soft kisses and even softer touches, and then that little notification that went off—he glances at the clock on the wall—at the strike of midnight. He should’ve known what was happening from the very moment he walked in and saw that Lighter was waiting for him. He’s the biggest sap Harumasa has ever known and by a long shot too. He should’ve known that today would’ve been no different, that Lighter—with all his painfully stupid good intentions and bleeding heart—would’ve remembered Harumasa’s birthday where he himself forgot all about it.
Harumasa has a tiring day at work and all he wants to do is to get home and pass out in his bed.
Unfortunately for him, Lighter has other plans, like taking care of Harumasa when he won't do it himself.Series

“I'm gonna kiss you now.” Lighter murmurs, hooded eyes flickering like twin flames in the lowlight of his living room. Harumasa can see the subtle flecks of red in his eyes, so close they were. He could even lose himself in counting Lighter’s eyelashes if he let himself.
“What happened to asking?” Harumasa snickers, leaning in closer like a moth drawn to a flame and in a way, Lighter has always been the steadiest of fires that refuses to die out no matter how many times its been doused.
Lighter gets hurt; Harumasa gets him back to his apartment.
They have a heart-to-heart, amongst other things.Series

“So. Why’d you text me out of the blue?” He hums, turning to face Lighter with an innocent smile that does not mean he’s about to say some stupid shit—not at all. “Not that I mind, but usually I’m the one texting you!”
Harumasa leans in close then, a cheshire cat smile stretching across his face as he gets close enough to see those green eyes narrow in suspicion. “Could it be… that you missed me?”
The champion tries to play it cool, crossing his arms over his chest defensively. “And if I said I did? Doesn’t explain why you said yes if you didn’t also miss me.”
It's not a date, but if Harumasa squints hard enough, it could be. All he knows for sure is that Lighter is making it really hard to tell the difference.
