“Can’t we call this quits for today?” Jack asks, sitting up and turning around to face Alex. “We’ve done enough.”
“I’ve done enough, you mean,” Alex corrects with an amused smile. “All you’ve done is lie around on my floor and complain while I do all the work.” He gestures emphatically with his pen, making a point. “This is just like school projects all over again.”
“Fuck you too,” Jack retorts with a smirk. “Anyway, maybe you could do with the break,” he adds, ruffling Alex’s hair.
“Cut that out,” Alex huffs, batting Jack’s hand away. Jack laughs.

“You know, your fucking ego is through the roof, my friend,” Jack retorts with a raised eyebrow. “I’ll have you know I made that up on the spot.”
“Hmm,” Alex says sceptically, raising his eyebrows.
“Believe it or not, I actually do other things with my time than just sit around and think about you.”
“Yeah, and it really shows when you’re in here distracting me every day,” Alex deadpans sarcastically.

“I, uh,” Alex mumbles, looking away sheepishly. “I’m a virgin.” Jack raises an eyebrow in surprise.
“You are?” Jack asks, taken aback. “But you’ve had, like, three or four girlfriends.”
“Yeah, but I didn’t have sex with any of them,” Alex says, fiddling with a loose thread on his jeans.
“But you’ve written, like, so many sex references in songs. Lines about sleeping with girls. Where do those come from?” Jack asks, furrowing his eyebrows in confusion – Alex being a virgin really is news to him. Which is slightly surprising, considering they usually share everything with one another.

Jack Barakat loves Alex Gaskarth. He loves him more than anything in the world. Alex loves Jack just the same. The only problem is that he can't be honest about it. If his parents found out about his relationship with the other boy, he would be kicked out if his house and disowned. So instead of being honest, he lies to them. He uses his girlfriend, Brynn, as a cover-up.
But Jack soon finds out news that changes both of their lives completely, forcing Alex to reconsider his previous plans.
