Hawks hides his face back in the pillows, face burning. "Um, speaking of my heats…"
"What, is it another one?" Dabi asks. "That seems fast. I thought you said they were a once a year thing."
"They are," Hawks mumbles. "But uh, there's… a second part to them. Usually a few months after."
"Birdie," Dabi says, his patience clearly being strained. "Just spit it out."
Hawks clears his throat. "It's eggs. I… lay eggs. And I'm having trouble getting them out."
"Oh."
Hawks peeks up at Dabi. "'Oh?' That's it?"
Dabi has his hand placed over his mouth as he gives Hawks an appraising look. "You know, I had noticed you were putting on some weight lately, but I didn't wanna say anything and get banned from your nest."
Hawks smacks him with his wing. "I changed my mind. Get out of here. I don't want your help."

Summary
Hawks is struck by how effortlessly they can just... exist together. It’s not just Dabi with him—though that in itself is a revelation. Their conversation feels light, almost natural, which is a far cry from the last time they’d shared a room. Back then, Hawks couldn’t lower his guard, not with Dabi always keeping his up. But he acts differently around his family. He can see how they fit together despite their past. Watching them now feels like peering into a window, an intruder or spectator witnessing something intimate and unfamiliar: they’re different. They feel different.

Summary
Atsumu lowered himself to the floor and hugged his knees. Kiyoomi followed suit, but he put some distance between them. He couldn’t know how Atsumu was reacting precisely, though he’d dealt with subs before.
Atsumu would likely not cling to him and ask to be comforted.
Lo and behold, he was wrong. What unfolded next left Kiyoomi feeling a mixture of bewildered and…pleased. It began with Atsumu letting out a sound too soft to belong to him at all and ended up with him crawling into Kiyoomi’s personal space.
His eyes were rimmed with tears, his breaths shallow. “Omi,” he said, his voice wan, “please.”
Nothing more. Just that word. In that voice. A voice that tugged at all of Kiyoomi’s instinct, a voice that told him to protect.

"The fuck it doesn't!" Dabi lunges forward, grabs the collar of Hawks' compression shirt and yanks Hawks up to growl in his face. "You murder someone for me, you do something that could get you killed, for me, and it doesn't have anything to do with me?"
"Okay," admits Hawks, "When you put it like that—"
