    Peter has a low opinion of himself (shocking) and thinks he doesn't deserve to be jealous. I mean... Jean Gray is powerful and pretty, so it's only natural that everyone is crushing on her.

    Jean Grey is putting her life on the line fighting off everyone trying to grab her spider.

    He hadn't been expecting anyone.

    He pushed himself away from the desk and made his way toward the door. When he opened it, he was met with a sight that left him momentarily speechless.

    Surprise came first.

    Then relief.

    After weeks of searching for her, Peter had never imagined that Jean would be the one to find him.

    Yet there she was, standing on his doorstep.

    She wore what she seemed to favor most—a loose, oversized jacket with the hood pulled over her head, casting most of her face into shadow. Still, Peter could see enough to know that she looked well.

    Better than he had expected, considering everything that had happened.

    For a few seconds, neither of them said anything.
    Peter simply stood there, taking her in, trying to convince himself that she was really standing in front of him.

    Jean finally broke the silence.

    “Can I come in?”

    Xavier's is loud. Every mind bleeds into every other mind and Jean is so, so tired of the noise. Peter Parker's frequency is the only thing in her head that doesn't feel like static. She reaches out expecting him to shut her out. He doesn't. This is probably a mistake. She's going to do it again tomorrow.
