Will raises his eyebrows. “Is that why you came in here?” he repeats, looking back down at the blue flannel. “To ask me about the weather in Lenora?”
“Kind of,” Mike says, and then, “well no, not about the weather specifically. I just– I wanted to talk to you.”
“Oh.” And Will looks a lot more surprised at this, actually, than the idea that Mike might have just wanted to come to his room to make small talk about unseasonably frigid California winters. “Okay. What about?”
“Anything.” The response is embarrassingly immediate. “Everything. I don’t know. I missed you.”
Hawkins, 1986. The world is ending, there are too many people in Mike's house, and to top it all off, he and Will have some things to talk through.

Summary
Mike’s happy that his friend is happy. Of course he is. Will’s been through more than enough shit. He deserves to look like he’s been lit up from the inside. Like how Robin is apparently making him feel. ‘Rockin’ Robin.’ Which Will has been insistently calling her, each time accompanied with an infectious grin.
So yes, Mike is happy that Will is happy. It’s just – every time he hears that ridiculous nickname dropping out of Will’s mouth, whilst Will beams at Robin, Mike feels his stomach squirm unpleasantly.

Summary
Mike keeps asking for sleepovers. Will lives in the basement. It makes no sense.
But Mike keeps planning them anyway. And Will keeps going upstairs. And sometimes—during the late-night talks, or when Mike won’t let go of his hand, or when he looks at Will like that—Will thinks maybe it means something.
Or maybe he’s just imagining things.
(How many signs does Mike have to drop before Will finally asks Robin for a sanity check?)
