Summary
For Laios, what had once been a distant fantasy, had become his reality by a spur of the moment whim. His future, for once, was solely on his hands. And maybe the fairy-tales about princes fighting dragons weren’t as far fetched as he had thought.
But now, by his own actions, he was back again where he had started, with even more on his plate than then. Maybe he should have stayed in the village, become chief. It was definitely a smaller scope than a whole kingdom, less pressure. But then again, it was his actions that had led him here. He had chosen to do this, he shouldn’t regret any of it. Was this not the maximum expression of free will?
Yet he still had to go through formalities and pleasantries. And he couldn’t really engage with his interests either. And now apparently, he was to have an arranged marriage.
On the meanwhile, he became entangled with his royal advisor. Of course, this hadn’t been without doubt. Yet the tentative was too strong, and cold hands ran faster than thoughts. A bit of self-indulgence is needed, every now and then. It’s only natural, you see.
But what was to say that Kabru felt as strongly about their little affair as Laios did?
