Summary
The two of them continued walking further down the darkened hallway, and an eerily familiar voice was breaking through the veil and stopping them dead in their tracks once again. They had been so startled by the sound that they turned to look at each other swiftly, so audible it was almost as if one of them had spoken aloud.
“Hello?” Jayce’s voice was practically crystal clear as it sounded from the device in his own hands, his gold-hazel eyes widening with intrigue and horror as they stared at each other through the dimly-lit darkness, both their skin bristling.
A moment passed between them when they weren’t sure what to say. Viktor stuttered as he attempted to muster the question building from within his throbbing throat.
“D-did you say that?”
Jayce only shook his head, still gazing at his partner like a deer into oncoming headlights.
OR
AU in which Jayce has lost Viktor to his illness and becomes obsessed with connecting with him through the paranormal, only to yearn so hard he inadvertently opens a portal to another dimension – and grabs hold of a different Viktor.

Summary
“Morning,” Rantaro murmurs. It’s nearing 3PM, but it’s the thought that counts. “Are you hungry?”
Kokichi hums indistinctly, which isn’t really an answer. Rantaro watches him lie there for a while, as if he’ll suddenly muster the energy to give a verbal response, but none comes. Eventually Rantaro adjusts to tug Kokichi further into his embrace, head against his chest, and reaches past him with his free hand.
It’s winter, orange season, so they’ve been keeping a little basket of tangerines on the corner of the kotatsu by their remote. Kokichi likes the things a lot so he keeps a careful eye on it, always refilling it when the amount dips kind of low. Rantaro picks a tangerine off the top and leans forward slightly so he can wind his arm all the way around Kokichi, cradling the fruit in both hands.
“How’d you sleep?” Rantaro asks as he starts to peel it. Kokichi mumbles into his shirt, another incoherent response.

Kokichi wakes up late and groggy, Rantaro makes sure he gets his breakfast.

“You make a lot of silly mistakes like that,” Ouma comments. It’s not really true, and he can’t even think of any examples, but the words just come out independent of his brain. “You’d better get on that! Something pretty bad could happen if you’re not careful!”
“Like a terminal illness?”
“Pretty much like a terminal illness, yeah.”
A pause. Ouma is currently biting on the inside of his own cheek, wondering what he should say to escape the interaction. Maybe he should just run. Maybe he should knock Amami out and gaslight him about this later. No, he was never at the door. You’re crazy Amami. You must have been having sleep deprivation hallucinations. That sounds pretty scary, you should get that looked at.
“Do you want to come in?” Amami ventures.
Whuh huh.
