Driven by obsession, a former acquaintance of Dick Grayson’s hatches a plan to kidnap a man who has been spending an awful lot of time in Grayson’s company lately. Things don’t go to plan, and soon he has both of them chained up in a warehouse by the Gotham Harbour.

Summary
The world doesn't get to see their love until Shane Hollander dies. By then it’s a sad mimicry of the real thing: mangled by grief and overshadowed by anger, their love is shown not through its presence, but through the monumental pain of its absence.
Shane Hollander dies and Ilya Rozanov’s grief is laid bare for all to see. (Aka Ilya has an Achilles moment and refuses to surrender Shane’s body after he dies in the middle of a game.)
