Flins took a natural sip from the glass; not too much, and not too little. Just enough for his throat to bobble and to draw Varka’s attention to it.
For the first time, he was close enough to what he wanted to hear. Varka might finally shape his movements, his choices, and Flins wanted it. He wanted to surrender his choices to Varka’s hands. He wanted it badly.
Varka was a very accommodating person. Always watching, always adjusting, so no one had to feel uncomfortable. Whether for the Knights or for his friends, he never changed.
Flins believed it was a beautiful thing. Humans were fragile and needed that coddling. But he was not human. He needed Varka to stop asking him what he wanted and to start giving him orders.

Wei Ying watches him wordlessly, warily. Jiang Cheng being open is something rather rare, and most of the time Jiang Cheng throws it back in his face.
“It’s because I don’t trust you as far as I can throw you,” Jiang Cheng spits and Wei Ying sucks in a breath like he’s been punched in the gut, “It’s because you lied to me and then almost abandoned me when I needed you the most. It’s because you might love me but is that enough? I’m not even sure you respect me.”
The ugly thing in his throat is still there. The jealousy is gone now, but the ugly thing in his throat is still there and Wei Ying has no idea what it is anymore. All he knows is that it’s done with rationality, with reason.

This man was the most amazing person he had ever met, besides his parents. Fukuzawa helped him to discover his ability, he risked his life to save Ranpo and didn’t ask anything in return. He made him feel special: not like an outsider, but a truly gifted person, maybe even… significant. Ranpo had been stray for so long, nobody truly cared about him. He was so eager to believe that Fukuzawa really, really thought that he was special to him.
