The bartender sets another glass in front of her, and Osha looks up, confused. “I didn’t—”
“From the gentleman in the white polo,” he says so only she can hear. “Seems you have an admirer.”
Osha looks around, craning her neck to find this supposed admirer. Her phone buzzes, and she looks down. She would typically ignore the Instagram notification, but the name catches her by surprise.
“Qimir?” she says to herself.
“Yes, that was his name,” the bartender adds as he dries a glass. “Qimir Lorenzo. Seems he ran off after paying.”
Osha looks back at her phone and finds that he left a comment under the picture of some palm trees she just posted.
“It’s been a while.”

Summary
Osha knows that she doesn’t make a sound when she shrinks back from the closet door. She also knows, like the prey animal that she feels herself to be, that it won’t matter. His footsteps don’t make a sound as he circles the room. Maybe it’s the blood rushing in her ears, making her deaf. But she can feel him, moving closer, waiting for the little bunny to lose its nerve and break from the bushes.
Fight, flight, freeze. Osha is frozen in the dark, pressed back and down as far as she can get, watching the sliver of light from the closet door disappear as a body eclipses it. She doesn’t want to die in a closet. Two hands grasp the handles and fold the closet doors back. Osha flinches against the light, waiting for the gun or the knife or the garrote or the axe or the flamethrower. When none of those fates befall her, she chances a look up. And up. He’s tall.
The man standing before her is too pretty to be real. He has broad shoulders, a flawless complexion, dark, dark eyes. And he’s watching her, not like he’s going to kill her, but like he’s trying to understand what he’s seeing. “Who are you?” the assassin asks.

Summary
It’s not unusual for a student to be attracted to him. Qimir knows what he looks like, and college students are full of hormones. But this is the first time he’s ever felt attraction in return.
The thought startles him in a way he hasn’t managed to startle himself in years. Qimir is usually incredibly in-tune with his thoughts and feelings. He had to be, in order to process and overcome what he went through as a child and adolescent, and that skill has continued to serve him well.
But this? This he didn’t see coming.

“You know,” Mae says, her voice going sultry, seductive, so that Osha struggles to hear it over the blaring music. She closes the distance to the bartender, putting her hands on his belt and looking up at him. “I’m not above begging on my knees.”
The bartender stares down at Mae, and Osha feels a little ill as she watches—both at the fact that her sister is offering, and also because he actually appears to be considering it.
But he shakes his head slowly. “Not you.” And then he looks over Mae’s shoulder at Osha, the club’s flashing lights casting unsettling shadows on his angular features, and when he speaks again his voice is much, much lower. “You.”

When the greasy bartender realizes their IDs are fake, Mae offers him a blow job in exchange for access to the VIP lounge. He agrees to the deal...only he doesn't want Mae. But what's supposed to be a simple exchange spirals into much more when Osha returns to the club and discovers he's not just a bartender, and that he has a whole world of sexual awakening in store for her.

Qimir always moved so elegantly until he shifted into brutal violence in a blink of an eye. He could kill any man or woman in this room, even perhaps Osha’s uncle. It would be an impressive fight, no doubt. Osha isn’t under the delusion that she could take Qimir in a hand to hand fight, but she has an advantage to exploit — their old sordid history. Her uncle, on the other hand, if he fully committed to the act, he could probably kill Qimir. But three times out of five, Osha suspects Qimir would come out on top.
Strange thing to think upon seeing her ex-fiancé after six years, but it lingers in her mind just from the way he moves through the church. Muscles coiled tight with tension, poised and ready to strike. He’s the next leader of the Rwoh crime syndicate for a reason. It comes with expectations and violent realities, and she’s sure he’s shaped up to fit it with brutal efficiency.
