Summary
Viren needs a little bit of comfort to go softly into that sweet night.
Or at least, just to not die so utterly and completely alone.

Summary
“Startouch elves form around a single star, this makes up our very heart and soul itself. Our bodies live and breathe star magic and so, they do not have to follow the same rules of reality that everyone else does. In our chests, there is room for a pocket of starlight which powers us, tying us to our birth star.”
—
“Please.. enter my heart, Viren. And redefine love there.”
Viren thought about how ironic it was that the sentiment was both literal and metaphorical.

may or may not be so out of the box it’s leaning towards eldritch horror but I like to think I’m creativeSeries

Summary
Few creatures understood the star arcanum.
Star weaver spiders knew it, their gossamer, delicate webs fragile and powerful all at once, creating dew kissed constellations, connecting. Unicorns in their purity knew it too, how a benevolent star could look upon those below and feel sympathy, a distant light that only wanted to offer comfort, wishes.
He knew it too.
Aaravos breathed starlight, lived starlight, was starlight. The star arcanum was beyond most human minds to understand, asking them to feel both frigid distance and the fine threads connecting the stars and every living thing to each other. It was pinpricks of light against darkness, not enough to only take one, but to wield both. It was time, the simultaneous stillness and motion of the heavens, the ability to feel it all, see it all, be it all.
Stars were not at all like the moon. There were no half truths, no lies to their power. They had to be taken in their full glory, magnificent and infinite.
Wishes were made on stars.
How funny, that they were particularly made on shooting stars.

Bookmarker's Notes
Zim caught Dib by the small of his back, one claw crushing Dib’s outstretched hand, and in one swift movement he lowered them both into a dip.
“What victory,” Zim breathed, his false eyes wide with visions of their future. “What exquisite victory.”
Dib sucked in a half-choking breath. The ceiling above them gave way with a creak and a crash to the leprous spatter of stars across a green sky, its edges leaking trails of sawdust and broken cables, and in the midst of it all was Zim—every inch the eldritch nightmare Dib knew him to be. Dib’s heart beat very fast. If he could only—if he could only—
“Ugh,” Zim said, glancing down, “you’re dripping punch.”
And Zim dropped him like so much wet laundry.

Summary
Viren, on the other hand, saw it differently. To him, it was not an act of cruelty and a shortcut, but rather a creative solution that he was determined to explore. His persistence got him here, all the way to Xadia, where he was taking a part in a first-ever student exchange program between Xadia and Pentarchy. He had been sent here to study political affairs from the Xadian perspective to have a broader point of view and serve as a better political advisor back in Katolis. For Viren, being in Xadia also meant he could have unlimited access to ingredients required for Dark spells… He just had to be extremely careful not to get caught, as had almost happened a moment ago. “Vir, you shouldn’t meddle with that crap…”, the distant voice of his ex-girlfriend echoed in his head, but he knew better than that. She was no longer his concern and he had his eyes set on a goal.

Bookmarker's Notes
This fic is one of my absolute favorites and has inspired some of the art I’ve done as well! As someone who loves vintage & goth subculture & IS a baby bat in college I feel like I resonate with it really well! I love the taking of the worldbuilding of the dragon prince recontextualized in a college setting and the way Aaravos was actually an inspiration for Bowie & caused Viren to question his sexuality!! It’s so deliciously perfect but sadly unfinished, but I would say it’s still definitely worth the read! It doesn’t really end on a cliffhanger either, just one of the best burns ever 😁
need to see the rest of this omfg one of my fav viravos fics -
