Summary
The older he gets, the more Daryan realizes that love isn’t just the tired cliches they sing about to a screaming mass of teenagers from the stage. It’s a soft sigh and even softer fingers in the darkness. It’s racing your car down a wrong way road with the headlights off just for the hell of it. Sometimes it’s just a goddamn kick in the gut. So, yeah, love can be a lot of things. But for Daryan? Love has only ever been Klavier.

Summary
“I’ve missed you too,” he says, the words unfurling from his mouth before he can stop them. “I miss teaming up with you on those ridiculous cases. I miss going against you in court, knowing that someone has my back in spite of it all. I even miss your stupid air guitar gimmick.”
There’s something off about Klavier’s expression, even if the smile spreading across his face is genuine. “We had something good, ja?”
Apollo’s eyes are drawn to the twitching of Klavier’s fingers, the soft furrow of his brow as he turns his gaze. That pressure is his chest is quivering and he grasps for the right words, unable to leave it at that. “Klavier,” he says. “We could still have something good.”
Thousands of miles away from Khura’in, Apollo refuses to let another opportunity go to waste.

Summary
“Did you know about Enigmar’s wife?” Justice says.
Ah, the other shoe. In his lap, Kristoph’s hand clenches into a fist, stretching the skin over his scar. Gramarye and Wright, Wright and Gramarye, always coming back to those two infernal names.
“Your mouth is twitching,” Justice notes, and Kristoph hates that he noticed.
“I’m sick of that man,” Kristoph says. He’s not sure if he’s talking about Wright or Gramarye.
For the first time in two years, Kristoph speaks to his old apprentice.
