He’s unconditionally placed this vulnerability in Phainon’s hands, and Phainon feels weak with the intimacy of it.
He finds himself leaning in, down, brushing his lips against the spot he’s so cruelly pierced countless times before. He feels the breath Mydei draws in surprise, the tensing of muscle under his lips.
“Feeling sentimental?” Mydei growls, voice low. “What are you thinking about now?”
“Nothing,” Phainon says, too-casual, too obvious. So he amends with, “I love you.”
