Levi curses himself for letting Furlan use his phone a few months back, after he’d broken his own and had to save up for a new cheap burner. His algorithms are still fucked up beyond repair, and he’s been getting these shitty, sleazy dating app ads ever since.
But now—whether it be that quiet desperation still stirring in his insides, or the golden dollar signs burning into his retinas—rather than scrolling past the ad with a roll of his eyes and cursing Furlan once again for being such a fucking slut, he hesitates.

Summary
“Levi,” and it’s almost nothing. It would be so easy to pretend not to have heard. Levi thinks maybe that is what Erwin wants him to do. But he turns anyway, sees that Erwin has followed him, partially, suspended between Levi and his desk.
Levi might be sick. The light of the lamp is making molten gold out of Erwin’s hair. He is so beautiful it is hateful. He is breathing like he has been running.
“There is another – I need to.” He pauses, clears his throat. Tries again. “There is something else I need to discuss with you. Tell you.” His eyes are so wide. Levi is shaking now.
“It can wait,” he whispers, like it’s a warning. It is a warning.

The night before the Survey Corps set off to retake Shiganshina, Erwin has something to tell Levi. For the first time in years, words fail him.

Summary
"Levi misses Erwin in the margin between sleeping and waking. He thinks about Erwin when he steps out of a hot bath into cold air. He imagines Erwin’s new life, his new vocation, his new family, when the seasons change, or when he blows the candles out, or now, as the sun sets. The only space he does so is a space of a threshold. It does not feel good or bad. It does not feel happy or sad. Levi realises now, however, that this is not the same as it feeling nothing."
Six years after the War ends and they part ways, Levi finds himself at Erwin's door again.
