It had always been clear. Since that first luminous night, when they pulled magic from science and stitched it into something divine, Viktor had known. Jayce would never see him that way. Never had seen him that way.
And yet, he never retreated. Jayce was a sun—bright, insistent, fearless. He stepped into Viktor’s gravity without hesitation, not understanding how easily his presence upended Viktor’s careful balance. Panicked eyes flitted around the other’s face, refusing to settle on that gap toothed smile.
Maybe... maybe Viktor could pretend.
