Kate Bishop hated the cold. Especially cold mornings, when she woke up after falling asleep with Yelena (only because it was far too late for Yelena to go home, not because Kate secretly wished she would stay every night) to find Yelena gone once again. Luckily, this time Yelena was nearby, watching the snow fall out through the open window, flipping her knife between her fingers (which was very dangerous and not attractive at all).
Yelena loved the cold, but even she would admit that the cold was better when Kate Bishop was right beside her, watching those stupid TV shows she loved while they ate ice cream out of the carton. (Not like that had happened the night before, causing her to stay the night. And she only stayed the night because it was too late to leave. Not because she wanted to wake up cuddled with Kate Bishop).or

"I don't always hate the cold. Not if I have warm blankets and hot chocolate and - wait. Did you just say you loved me?"

When Clint first finds Natasha, he sees a manipulated woman who needs help. He ends up taking her home to him and Laura, working on integrating her into SHEILD, until they realize how old she is. There is a lot of recovery for Natasha to go through before she's SHEILD material but luckily, she has Clint and Laura to help her through it all, even when she doesn't want it.

Natasha has never once been assigned a honeypot mission at SHIELD.
Not declined. Never asked. Because unlike the Red Room, SHIELD draws a line, and when Maria Hill first read the defection file, she bolded that line for one agent in particular and never told her it existed.
Four years is a long time. Somewhere in it, protecting her agent turned into wanting her, and both of them have been carrying it in silence — Maria because she signs the deployment orders, Natasha because she's never trusted her own read on what a room wants.
Then a target comes along who can't be reached any other way, the line has to move, and Maria has to be the one to move it.
