The flash of horror before a gaze of indifference in Anne’s eyes is familiar- even after so long- and instead of acknowledging the feeling of her heart shattering into innumerable pieces, Sasha smiles. She smiles because now she sees what her former friend always has.
She now sees the broken and irremediable person she is as a whole.
