"I will try my best to come back, but can make no promises," she says quietly. "As such, in case the worst happens... I would like to do one selfish thing." She's standing close enough she has to look up slightly to make eye contact, an almost pleading expression on her face. "Would you allow me this?"
Aymeric is helpless in the face of her expression, her closeness, the softness of her voice, all thoughts of formality and familiarity gone. He doesn't know what she wants, but he knows he will give it to her. "Anything," he says, just as soft.
Suddenly, she's kissing him.

Summary
Even a relationship filled with quiet moments and tenderness must have its excitement, and a grand ball among the Ishgardian nobility is the perfect opportunity for Koudrier and Aymeric to have some fun out in the public eye. Dressed in finery made just for this occasion, Koudrier can't help but be nervous for what she expects to be a stuffy event of political wheeling and dealing, but at least she'll be able to dance with her beloved. Never mind the nobles who keep trying to cut in and curry favor with the Lord Commander or the Warrior of Light. Her friends are there to support her even when her love is called away (and to provide her with her newest existential crisis), and even amidst the fanciful crowd of bejewelled revellers, she and Aymeric will always find a way to have a quiet moment to themselves.
