Summary
Nancy can tell Robin is resisting the urge to pace for all of their sakes. She keeps repeating, “He’ll be okay.” like if she says it enough, it’ll be true. Because why wouldn’t it be?
Nancy wants to hold her.
But Mike’s shoulders shake and goosebumps remain on his arms even after Steve lends him his jacket, so Nancy figures that now’s not the time.
After what seems like ages, a nurse walks out from the double doors to the operating rooms. She tells them Will’s condition is stable.
“But we want to keep him here until he’s fully healed. He’s asleep now,” she says. Mike deflates like a balloon — but from relief or distress, it’s unclear. He agrees to let a doctor look at his leg wound and stays at the hospital overnight.
The aftermath of the apocalypse is not what she expects.
Or: After the end of the world, Nancy realizes her brother and Will Byers have made sense together for forever. Whatever is between her and Robin takes a little longer, though.
