Befuddlement pinched Mydei’s features and he glanced at his side where he stared for a few extra moments of dragging silence. “What is?”
So Phainon lifted his hand to mirror Mydei’s own and pointed at his fourth finger. “It’s right here. A golden…”
Thread. Wrapped neatly around Phainon’s finger. It drooped towards the floor in a long, low loop and rose again to knot around Mydei’s finger. They were connected.
In the ruins of a temple to Mnestia, Phainon peers through an ancient relic that reveals something he was never supposed to see: a golden thread that just so happens to tether him and Mydei.
He may not know what it means but he’s sure it’s nothing to be concerned about.

Summary
As a dishonored knight of a fallen kingdom, Phainon has sworn his loyalty now to the holy city Okhema, only working in the shadows underneath the Council of Elder's demands.
When they task him to kill the crown prince known as Mydeimos, he accepts it, even knowing the rumors of Mydeimos being immortal.
Rumors are just rumors, and Phainon kills Mydeimos, succeeding in his task.
At least, He was pretty sure he killed him..
