Bucky remembers reading somewhere that liminal spaces were defined as the spaces between one destination and the next. He thinks that, in one way or another, Steve's cozy little townhouse is his very own liminal space, the place where he will become the person he's wanted to be his whole life, at the hands of a kind man who treats him like something precious.

Summary
The worst part is that Steve does enjoy it. At first, it had been for Bucky; so what, if Bucky wanted to be smacked around? If he wanted Steve to give him a hard time? Steve was gone on Bucky, he had no doubts that he’d go to the ends of the world to make him happy, so roughing him up a bit wasn’t a problem.
The problem arose when Steve found himself waking up in the mornings thinking of ways to make Bucky cry and fell asleep thinking of pressing bruises into his pretty hipbones and dreamt about giving him a black eye. He woke from that dream grinding against Bucky, who sleepily smiled down at him as Steve got himself off against his thigh.
He murmured, “good dream?” after Steve came, pulling him in close and nuzzling into his hair. Steve nodded, throat tight, because it had been.
The thought of giving Bucky a black eye had been enough for him to get off.Series

“A toy I bought a while ago, after we played.” Daddy explains, laughing at Jamie’s eager grabby hands. Jamie latches onto it, breathing oh at the almost impossible softness of its fur. It’s a little bunny, a lighter blue than Daddy’s eyes, ears all floppy. Jamie wriggles and curls his toes as he rubs his cheek against its stomach, playing with its ears.
Jamie looks up with wide eyes, saying, “Daddy.” and his Daddy’s smile is so soft and adoring that Jamie’s chest feels tight with it, with how much he loves his Daddy right back.Series

Back when they were younger, Steve and Bucky had quickly realised that Jamie wasn’t always the same age. He’d been young that first time, and from there he’d varied from a year to somewhere around the eight years mark. Bucky became Jamie when he needed Steve to take care of him, and Jamie became however old he needed to be to let Steve take care of him.
Jamie at five is good — Steve knows exactly how to handle Jamie at five. Sweet but stubborn, he flourishes under his Daddy’s affection while pouting up a storm at everything else. Steve loves his baby no matter how old he is, but he has a soft spot for five year old Jamie.Series
