Summary
Will was crammed into the tiny, pitch-black closet, sweat dampening his hair and clinging to his T-shirt. Just when he was sure Carlton wasn’t coming - when he’d already sworn off parties forever - the door creaked open and someone slipped inside.
Lips crashed into his, urgent. His first kiss was...messy.
Will barely had time to react before he was shoved back - and the guy bolted.
Click.
The lock snapped shut.
“Hey!” Will pounded on the door. Silence. “You’ve gotta be kidding me-”
Will tripped over something. He reached down to see what it was.
...A Scoops Ahoy sailor hat.
Or-
During summer break, back from their first year of college and totally broke, Will had picked up a gig at Surfer Boy Pizza, Mike at Scoops Ahoy. After Mike found out about Carlton, he told himself he was just being a good friend - just helping Will get it right. Showing him what to do. What guys liked. But somewhere between teasing advice, melted ice cream, and honey-slick fingertips, Mike realized he was the one trying new flavors.

Summary
Rick crouched down, the leather of his duty belt creaking softly in the silence of the inner circle. To anyone else - to Shane, currently pacing the perimeter like a caged tiger, or to the young EMT who had turned green and retreated to the ambulance - this was a tragedy. A senseless act of violence.
To Rick, it was quiet.
He studied the wound. It was a single, devastating laceration across the throat, deep enough to sever the artery but controlled enough to avoid the messy, hacking desperation of an amateur. There were no hesitation marks. No defensive wounds on her hands, which lay palms-up and open, as if in supplication. She hadn't fought. She hadn't even had time to scream.

When the terrifying silence of the crimes is broken by the town's demand for justice, the mob turns its gaze toward the local pariah: Daryl Dixon. And Deputy Rick Grimes is the only one who stands between Daryl and a lynching.

Summary
There was something about this moment - just before the storm, when everything went still - that felt almost holy. Like the world holding its breath.
Then he heard it.
Faint, but sharp. A thin, warbling sound carried on the wind.
He froze.
Whistle.
Not birdsong. Not wind. Not anything natural. That was a whistle - one of those emergency ones, the kind you bought in a hiking store and hoped you’d never need to use. Three quick bursts. A pause. Then three long ones. Then three quick ones again. Someone was out there.

For three years, the silence of his remote mountain cabin was everything Daryl wanted. He had a life built of solitude and self-reliance, a world where the only person he had to answer to was himself, but that silence is shattered by the arrival of Rick Grimes - a city man with a busted ankle and no business being in the wilderness - just as the first big snow of the season hits. Trapped together in the suffocating closeness of the cabin, Daryl tells himself it’s temporary. He tells himself it doesn't mean anything. He tells himself it's just until the snow melts.
