Summary
Chan tugs the shirt gently so it’s hovering far away from Yongbok’s back. With scissors in hand, he carefully starts snipping through the fabric. Yongbok’s wings connect with his skin starting around the middle of his back. He doesn't think Yongbok breathes the whole time.
When he’s done, Chan steps back, setting the scissors down. Yongbok looks at him hesitantly before slowly reaching behind himself and threading his wings through the new slits, two mostly parallel cuts that run up half the fabric. Now that they’re not plastered to his skin, Yongbok's wings flutter excitedly. Chan hopes they won't always be this grey and dull, but it's still nice to see them. Yongbok looks happier too, like he can breathe a little easier now.

Chan is alone, and that's fine. It's what he needs actually, what he deserves.
All that changes overnight, when his options are to pay an extortionate amount of gold to save a trafficked fairy or to let the fairy be bought by someone worse than him.

It feels like Chan squats there for an hour before the kitten moves towards his hand. But eventually he feels a small nose against the tip of his finger. A smile creeps onto his face. “Would you like to be warm, little one?”

Summary
The trees part in a small clearing and in the middle is the source of the heartbreaking sound. A heaping mountain of a wolf, almost camouflaged in the snow because of his coloring, lays in a pile, already covered in a thin layer of snow. His legs are hulking chunks of muscle and Felix suspects if he could stand the wolf would be able to almost look him in the eyes. But he can't. Because his back leg is torn to shreds. Mangled and bloody. It looks like a bear trap snapped shut on his leg only to be ripped off without opening the jaws of the mechanism.
Felix raises his hands slightly as he inches towards the wolf. “Please, I can help you.” He says as gently as he can over the wind. “I won’t hurt you, I promise.”
The wolf looks directly at him with a wary gaze, before gently nudging Felix’s knee with the tip of his nose in what Felix hopes is acceptance.-or-
The winter storm is coming. A storm that will keep Felix, the outcast mage of the town, trapped in his home for the entire season. He’s prepared for a normal, lonely winter like all the others, when an injured wolf winds up at his door.
