“What is Xiao Zhuo ge dreaming about?” Bai Jiu asked, trying to inch closer to Zhuo Yichen’s bedside even though there was no room. “Why is he in pain?”
Zhao Yuanzhou was still swaying on his feet, as if drowsy. Zhuo Yichen’s dream must be strong if it pulled so hard on even Zhao Yuanzhou. Pei Sijing's supporting grip on his arm tightened, and the glance she threw Wen Xiao was uncharacteristically panicked.
“I couldn't get a clear picture,” Zhao Yuanzhou said. He patted Pei Sijing's arm in thanks, the movement shaky. “His dream pushed me out because a version of myself was already there. We were all there.”
“That's good, right?” Bai Jiu asked hopefully. “If our dream selves are there, then we can help him.”
“No.” Zhao Yuanzhou looked solemnly downward. Zhuo Yichen's face was still, deathly still. “No, I don't think it's a good thing.”
