“Don’t worry. I’m okay.” He gently takes the cup from your death grip and sets it on the bedside table. He laughs, but it comes out a little winded. “Seriously, Y/N. I trust you.”
He says it with so much certainty—so resolutely —that it frightens you just a bit. Feeling a little awkward at the blatant verbal affection, you just shrug and inhale a shaky breath.
“Okay, well, scoot over.” You fold back the sheets and squish in next to him on the tiny twin sized bed.
He watches as you open the bedside drawer and take out a chocolate and almond bar. You break it in half, and without even thinking, you pass him the larger half. His heart warms at the small gesture as he bites into the rich chocolate.
