“I’m sorry that I’m this way.” His fingers shook as they grazed over Eiji’s cheeks. Brown eyes drifted from one wound to another. They met Ash’s and flooded with something new. “I don’t mean to be like this.”
“I know.”
“I’m–” His gaze flickered from one galaxy to another, as though the stars in Eiji’s eyes or dusted across Eiji’s cheeks would align into the right words. He could no longer trust his voice, every word a whisper. “I’m just sorry.”
It felt like reconciliation, like he could find some divine forgiveness in Eiji’s freckled face if he just looked hard enough.
A prelude to late nights of tending wounds.

Of course, Ash has come a long way since then.
"Makeup," Ash says, snapping his fingers. "Get me Shorter here ASAP."
He's come a long, long way, in some regards.
Dino steps out onto the set, cold eyes already focused on Ash, and Ash's blood turns to ice.
Other things haven't changed much. Not really.
Dino puts a hand on Ash's shoulder, and Ash stares at the same cracks in the floor that he memorized years ago.
Yeah. Some things haven't changed at all.
Ash is a model at an agency owned by Dino Golzine, and he's accepted his role as the star—including everything that comes with. But when Eiji comes on as a contract photographer, suddenly Ash isn't quite as afraid to be in front of the camera. Of course, caring about Eiji also means he has more to lose.

In Japan, Eiji goes to get some medicine to take care of a sick Ash and runs into some trouble (a minor accident).
Faced with two options: 1. Fix it and come home late. 2. Go home, hide it and fix it later.
Eiji is super good at hiding things from Ash. Maybe, a sick Ash won’t notice.

He’s staring blankly at the wall in front of him, but his eyes are completely clouded over-- he’s looking without seeing.
