Such a beautiful work depicting being young, falling in live and finding yourself.

Has such deep yearning, longing that I just love.

    Summary

Robin loudly slurps her strawberry milkshake, red straw puckered between her lips. A little leftover sits in the dip of her bottom lip.

Nancy drops her gaze to the table.

"So," she starts quietly, swallowing down her doubt—the uncontrollable skip in her chest each time their knees brush. "Are you gonna let me try strawberry, or...?"

Robin looks up at her, eyes wide—expectant. The straw falls out of her mouth.

"Or—" Nancy stumbles a little. "Let me suffer with vanilla forever."

Robin blinks. "Uh—yeah, of course. Try away. I can get you a spare straw if—"

But Nancy is already sliding the glass across the table, cool against her fingertips, and taking Robin's wet straw into her mouth.

The Upside Down is gone, but Nancy still can't sleep... unless one Robin Buckley is next to her.

    She doesn't know why.

    Summary

Robin feels a tug in her chest, a soft and fond sort of thing, and she thinks that it would be quite dangerous to fall for Nancy, but the feeling settles over Robin all the same and it's not an all-consuming sort of thing, really.

Rather, it's gentle in nature, winds its way around her consciousness until she realizes, sitting here in the musty, cluttered little sound booth of the radio station, that she could fall in love with Nancy Wheeler.

I'd just like to say that this encapsulates what I think many young people dream of. Older too.

Falling utterly ans hopelessly in love with someone who means so much to you. A close friend. Inevitable. Natural.

The suffocating, exhilarating, exhausting, wonderful, amazing feeling of falling in love with someone who means everything?

    Yeah, and amazing read

    Summary

Robin Buckley should really be careful with chemical reactions. What do people say again? That love is chemical reaction? Ugh, right. Robin doesn’t believe in this shit, because she knows she’ll never get to live true love.

Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed. Even old friendships from high school, even past judgements. Even the feelings Nancy thinks are just a mild irritation towards that weird girl who dropped sulfuric acid on her pure cotton sweater. It can’t be love, can it? Just a very addictive dopamine surge every time Robin touches her hand. That’s all.

In which, Nancy craves freedom, Robin hates birds, and Steve deserves a beer.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Beautifully captures the story of falling in love with a girl for the first time; your best friend. Burying it. The ups and the many downs it brings.

All the emotions, the internalised homophobia, the fear, the confusion, the love.

Story about running from it, whilst wanting to chase it down. To finally allow yourself it.

    A great story

    Summary

Nancy stared at her, her expression shifted. Not angry. Not hurt. Focused. Eerily similar to her I'm gonna commit a crime face. “Robin.”

“Nancy?” Robin tilted her head. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

Nancy stepped closer. Close enough that Robin’s back brushed the edge of the desk behind her. Then her hands fell to Robin's hips, keeping her in place,

“Robin Buckley,” Nancy deliberately tipped her head up so their gazes were locked, “I underestimated how catastrophically bad you're at social cues.”

Robin huffed. “Rude, I told you I was.”

    “Look at me.”

Robin did. She always did when Nancy asked like that.

“We have been dating,” Nancy said slowly, enunciating every word, “for nearly six months.”

    Or,

Steve is needling Robin into finally landing herself a girlfriend—both unaware she already has one at home.

Really captures their characterisation whilst following canon with slight modifications. Creating a deep bond between the two, and really just a wonderful piece
