Summary
Alice is more than willing to help Bella become a vampire, and fulfill a few dreams along the way. She's in the middle of explaining the process when she's interrupted by James's phone call, luring Bella to her childhood home. Alice can clearly hear him on the other end (as it should've been in canon), and foils all of his well laid plans, as well as Edward's plan to keep Bella human. But there's a lot more lurking under the surface, and Alice starts to realize they never knew Bella at all.
this is a rewrite of my fic The Essence of You. It might end up fairly different, as I'm trying to dive deeper into their assorted issues.

She has a long year of self-imposed isolation with the world's most self depricating vampire. Will they get their shit together, and address their issues, or are they doomed to self destruct? There's only one force stronger than Edward's hatred of himself, and it's his hatred of a girl who represents his failure to be the man he wants.
