    It’s as Shen Qingqiu crushes the last little fluttering Iridescent Gem Beetle that the mother decides to introduce herself by burrowing up out of the earth like a cicada the size of an elephant. He just barely has time to resign himself to an even more exhausting fight than the last one - with no rest point in between to chug stamina potions or anything! Honestly, what poor game design! - when the stranger appears.

    He charges into the scene out of nowhere like an absolute bullshit deus ex machina, all dark, flowing hair and robes, whirling around to stab at the Mother Beetle with a gleaming white sword, making it screech and rear back in pain. Seriously, Shen Qingqiu feels like he’s suddenly trapped in a video game cutscene introducing the new companion! Where’s the background music and camera close up? Who is this guy?

    Shen Qingqiu happens to meet a mysterious stranger on the road, but he surely isn't important or relevant to the plot in the slightest.

    Well, being kidnapped and tied up had to be the worst part of Shen Qingqiu's day right? Surely it couldn't get worse even if he was being presented to some new and upcoming demonic warlord as tribute after all it would all be mote when Luo Binghe escaped the Endless Abyss right? Well... unless the demonic warlord in question WAS Luo Binghe.

    Thankfully... it might not end up going at all how he, or the demons, thought it was going to.

Yue Qingyuan had left Shen Qinqiu to the wolves, he will not apologize for killing the bloodthirsty creatures. What a joke, as though he would feel remorse for seizing his freedom from his captors. Sure there was blood on his hands, but first there had been blood on theirs.

     

    Yue Qingyuan speaks, “This Immortal Master believes—”

     

    A soft, oddly familiar voice interrupts the sect leader. Shen Qingqiu feels his eyes widen and his heart stop.

    Shen Yuan is not able to harden his heart and push his white lotus Binghe into the Abyss resulting in his death. Devastated by the loss of his beloved Shizun, Binghe takes off with his body and is constantly on the run. He is young but he is determined to bring Shizun back to life.

    And then, despite all the adversities Binghe faces, he does succeed! He does get Shizun’s body back to life! There is only one minor problem though. The soul that now occupies Shen Qingqiu's body is not Shen Yuan’s but Shen Jiu’s.

    “They didn't even take my food.” Shen Yuan said out loud, forlorn.

    “Can’t you just get more?” His new demon companion asked, feigning curiosity, though the absolute indifference written all over his face betrayed him. Not that this was a topic Shen Yuan expected the demon to express interest in anyway.

    Shen Yuan still could not help but roll his eyes and bite out a sharp retort. “Oh, how did I not think of that? Thank you for your wise input.” he mocked sarcastically. “I don't have the money, obviously. I'm broke, and my salary is only enough to barely last me the week.” He sighed in the way only overworked retail workers could, and he felt like that was enough of an explanation.

    The demon snorted at him. The absolute audacity. “Just get a better job.”

    Shen Yuan stared at the demon blankly.

    He felt like he might’ve popped a vessel.
