Kakashi was trying to steal Sakura.
He was smiling at her, eyes soft in a way Sasuke had never seen him look at anyone. Not unless he was trying to manipulate them—playing nice to get what he wanted.
That’s what Kakashi did. He faked it. Always had.
He was taking advantage of her open heart, pulling the strings, twisting her perception of him into some kind of protector until he could snatch her away when she least expected it.
And only Sasuke seemed to see what was really happening.

So when the page flips to show a face with striking resemblance to Sasuke’s, when the name reads Uchiha Itachi and the status reads missing-nin, when the picture clearly shows her own fucking soulmate tattoo on his cheek and jaw and neck, she’ll remember it in crystal clarity for the rest of her life.
In black and white, ink and paper, Sakura reads the writing on the wall.
