Horohoro was humming to himself that afternoon, tapping his foot restlessly as he scanned the shelves for dashi stock, when it suddenly hit him. He glanced down at his basket, realising what was missing.
Sweet potatoes.
He groaned in frustration. He was going to have to head right back across the store to get them, and the milk he was already carrying was bulky in his arms. With a shrug of defeat, he pivoted sharply to head back across the store—
—And promptly crashed straight into someone.
He froze as he glanced up again, feeling his breath catch in his throat.
“…Ren?”
After many years since the shaman tournament, Horohoro and Ren never expected to accidentally run into each other in a grocery store in Tokyo.
Over dinner, massages and Chinese hairpins, they slowly fall for each other, until a looming crisis abroad threatens to pull them apart.
