"In love?" Valeriy repeats incredulously. "Is that some kind of a joke?"
"Think what you like," Mitya says breezily, though he is not entirely sure himself. This feeling, like flying, like burning up - he has never been in love before, but he has always imagined it might feel like this. The part where he'd been unsure whether he'd live to see morning, not so much, but he almost enjoyed that the most.

It’s a sweet gesture. It’s an obvious copout.
Their motherland raised them to be fighters, to find out what makes their heart burn, then light themselves alive for it. Odette has seen more bloodshed in a day than Alyosha has seen in a year, hunting animals and whatever else he is privy to.

Alyosha stands in the doorway, hands tucked politely to himself. A little awkward, and awfully boyish, waiting for permission to enter.
Odette is the first to speak. “You know, you’re always welcome to stay. But there’s only one bed.”
After a Fatui reconnaissance mission, Odette finds Alyosha sleeping in the box seats of the theatre at dawn. The next course of action is to invite him into her private sleeping quarters, obviously.
