Instead, the living proof of the passage of time stands. He moves slowly, a new habit born from necessity; there is always one hand slightly outstretched in front of him, fingers flexing, angled so gently that one could almost mistake it for a crick in his arm. His footsteps are steady, far steadier than Takumi’s would have been if he were in Eito’s shoes, but Takumi can see the indents his fingers leave on the canvas back of the foldable chair he was sitting in.
For some reason, Takumi forgets about his drink. He stands there, a little distance away from the heart of the party, and watches as Eito gradually finds his way to what Takumi imagines is another seat.

The world around him is a blur, save for the one figure in the middle of the warzone. The figure is hunched, that tall frame bent into something small, and his hands are bleeding faster than the scythe can drink up. Actually, Takumi realises with a start—he’s bleeding everywhere, blood streaming down his face, splattered over his class armor, staining the whole front of his uniform and his shoes.
Eito looks like he dragged himself, kicking and screaming, from an ocean of crimson.

Takumi wraps his arms around himself. “It’s a collar,” he replies defensively. “I’m sure I can figure it out.”

Takumi has a very specific mental image of Eito. White, almost blindingly so, with his collar so high up that Takumi only barely catches glimpses of his neck.
So he fixates on it. He fixates on it so badly he wants to put something on it, and suddenly it becomes everyone's problem.

It drags the breath out of him, kicking and screaming like an invader afraid of death. There is a moment where Takumi feels lightheaded, like all the blood and cryptoglobin in his body turned tail and flowed in the opposite direction. He’s sure he turned bloodless, face pale enough to be a ghost. He’s sure of it, because his heart is pounding in his chest, loud enough to drown out whatever anyone is saying, because his entire life has narrowed down into one pinprick of a focus point.
“You’re alive,” he breathes, feeling something burning bright behind his eyes. Takumi takes one weak, stumbling step forward, and Eito isn’t even looking at him.

“I don’t understand,” he says, brows pulling together. “What can’t we do?”
The colour climbs higher on Isagi’s face. He leans to the side, catching sight of the numbers on the screen sitting above the locker room entrance and looks a little more frazzled than he usually does. Rin feels the urge to reach out to smooth out the stray hairs sticking out from Isagi’s head, so he does so.
“You know,” Isagi repeats, but this time with significantly more emphasis, enough that Rin is picking up that he is expected to know something.

Obi-Wan felt a flare of irritation, and quickly squashed it. The old man blinked, as if he hadn’t expected to feel that, and he smiled, sadly. “My name is Luke,” he said, as if a peace offering.
The force trilled in his ear, and Obi-Wan frowned. "Luke what?" He asked, and the old man, this Luke, smiled wryly.
