Chapter 1: One Frazzled Morning

Chapter Text

Yoongi wouldn't be strolling around the city if he wasn't getting bored inside his penthouse. His eyes are stinging, kinda droopy and black circles around his eyes slightly appearing now in his pale complexion. He's been sitting in front of his computer about roughly twenty-three hours, editing pictures and doing his work. Rest is still necessary, he reminds himself and humans do need caffeine too.

The soft bells tinkling above the door welcomes him, the smell of coffee is very evident soon as he stepped inside the café just few blocks away from his place. The mix of exhaustion and drowsiness suddenly went to drained as he ordered Americano, the bitter taste is just enough to wake his lethargic soul.

Placing his coffee on a table near the glass wall, he fiddles through his camera. There wasn't work at this early hour but Yoongi likes to take candid shots of the flourish busy cityscape, inanimate things which he's fascinated with and the authentic expressions of the strangers around him. It brings him bliss capturing great pictures, photography was his only source of happiness.

Satisfied with the recent pictures in his gallery, Yoongi starts to capture the raw aesthetic around him. It was like the usual scenario. Smiles drawn in each faces as they enjoy their cup of coffee— but one wasn't like the usual. He was frowning, eyebrows knitted and his coffee untouched still full. That caught Yoongi's attention.

In such fascination, Yoongi takes picture of the young man which is oblivious about the atmosphere around. His table is quite a mess, things scattered on the surface. There are pens as Yoongi recognizes and a lot more of art materials. The young man holds a thick drawing pad, pencil drawn into his plump pink lips kinda biting it at the end. He is an artist, Yoongi guesses.

Yoongi didn't realize he have been taking way too much photos of the young man. He sure is getting a stalker impression.

Clearing off the clouded thoughts in his mind, he sips his coffee nearly spitting it out in deep cognizance that it was bitter and hot. This could be the side effect of staying awake close to a full day, he reckons. Yoongi keeps himself busy with his phone, finishes up his coffee, minutes have passed it was official, he stays sleepless and a bit insomniac the whole day.

His head suddenly felt a pang, his brain felt like throbbing against his skull. His body felt like immovable and heavy. He knew he wouldn't think more rational if ever he have stumbled to make a conversation with someone. Yoongi looked around the cafe, the atmosphere seems to be vibrant and lively with the speakers booming pop songs. He was contrary— lifeless, his playlist full of Coldplay songs and a mix of Ed Sheeran's 'Divide'.

His mind tells him to go home already, lay his fatigued body into his soft mattress and rest his stinging eyes but he lands his gaze to the young man sitting a table apart who's still busy with his pad, his coffee a bit lessen now. Yoongi shouldn't bother with someone else's business, but his feet makes it's way to the boy's direction. He curses when he found himself sitting across the young man, his actions now made in impulse. Now knowing the danger of pulling a literal all-nighters, Yoongi promises himself to never exhaust his body and be awake 24/7. Ever.

Fighting his mouth to uncork a yawn, he rather diverted his attention to the young man's works. It was stunning, actually. Every stokes of lines matches, the color complements and shadowing was done perfectly. His drawings are above the standards of calling it as an art. It was a masterpiece.

Yoongi watches as his lips slightly hangs open. But he notices it was lacking with a certain factor. It was a true aesthetic but something's missing. Finally the young man's attention lands on Yoongi as he lifts his head off his pad.

Yoongi was left astonished again. He's looking at an another art in this table.

His hair fluffy and blonde. His eyes crescent and brown. His skin golden and his lips full and inviting, Yoongi starts slapping himself mentally. The aftermath of his sleepless day sure is worsening.

"Hi?" the young man's voice was music to Yoongi's ears, it brought him back from his thoughts.

"Sorry," Yoongi starts, "Mind if I seat here?"

Yoongi nearly said a curse out loud through the stupidity of his now empty head. He knew he'd never have a nice conversation when he's at this insomniac state.

"Can't argue with that since you're already seated before you asked." the boy smiles sipping through his straw as he looks at Yoongi.

Yoongi then cleared his throat, hoping his mind would function accordingly even just for an hour or two.

"I'm Min Yoongi, by the way." Yoongi introduces himself offering his hand which the boy then holds, his warmth wrapped Yoongi's hand for a second.

"Park Jimin." he smiles, his eyes nearly disappeared.

Yoongi doesn't usually smile but he can't hide the smile in his face when the boy's name resounding in his mind on repeat.

Jimin. That's cute.

"Anyway, I'm sorry if my table's a chaos." Jimin apologizes, beginning to keep his art tools back in his bag.

"It's okay, don't even bother tidying up." Yoongi addresses his voice composed, acting to have a rational conversation as if he wasn't sleep deprived.

Jimin's smile widen but he insisted to keep his things orderly in his bag. Yoongi in the other hand placed his camera in the table.

"You're a tourist?" Yoongi asks looking at Jimin's drawing pad, the boy nods. "How'd you know?"

Jimin seems amused, as if seeing Yoongi as a fortune teller.

"Locals wouldn't appreciate the view they have seen everyday and reciprocate it as art." Yoongi retorts, stating facts.

"You're quite an observer," Jimin points out. "Observing people is just like looking in the camera's viewfinder."

"You're a photographer?" Jimin questions, his lips quite agape. Yoongi confidently nods.

"That's cool!" The boy enthusiastically chimes. "Can I see your shots?"

Yoongi was about to hand his camera to Jimin when he realized he took most of the young man's pictures a while ago. Cold sweats starts to rush down his face when Jimin got a hand of his cam and starts fiddling it.

"I think your battery had run out." Jimin handed Yoongi's cam back dismissively when it wasn't turning on. Yoongi finally breathes in relief. That was close.

Silence suddenly filled the atmosphere, Jimin finishes his coffee while Yoongi finds his words to mutter despite of his sleep deprivation.

"Hey," the young man hums in reply. "Say, want a collab with me?"

Jimin shoots a stunned gaze at Yoongi, his eyes wide open, startled and muted for second.

"I can help you find some nice landscapes  to draw. My photos can also be your reference and I can even tour you around." Yoongi added, making it impossible for Jimin to decline.

"How can I rely on you with your offer?" Jimin asks his voice trails with doubt as he thinks about Yoongi's offer.

"You can search me through social medias if you want to." Yoongi suggested.

Jimin immediately fished his phone out of his pocket and search for Yoongi's website and accounts. All accounts flashes how famed the elder is, having tons of followers and positive reviews from the wide audience, Jimin wouldn't deny that Yoongi deserves all the praises.

Yoongi smiles as he looked at Jimin busily  searching him in his phone and seeing his astonished reaction makes Yoongi's smile bigger. After a couple of minutes, Jimin slides back his phone in his pocket and lands his gaze at Yoongi, satisfied with what he saw in his phone.

"I can't pay a high-end photographer." Yoongi's frail lopsided smirk floats into his face as he rests his elbow on the table and rested his chin on his palm.

"I didn't say I'm collaborating to get paid, Jimin." he clarifies, "I'm just offering a help to a tourist that I find very artistic."

Yoongi saw the faintest crimson flushed in Jimin's cheeks. The boy shyly casts his gaze away from Yoongi. He smiles at the back of his head resisting it to be shown. Jimin thought of the offer for a while and hesitantly nods.

"Then it's all settled. So how long will you stay here?" Jimin was taken aback but replies. "I'll still be here until the end of the month."

Yoongi continuously nods counting how many days will Jimin stay. About three weeks and four days. Not long but it's quite enough. Yoongi then grabs his phone and handed it to Jimin, the boy shoots a confused stare at Yoongi, frowning and eyebrows nearly knitted.

"Save your number so we could start with our business." Yoongi retorts sounding a bit exasperated, ending Jimin's confusion. Still clattered, Jimin docilely typed his number and handed it back to Yoongi after checking if it's really his number.

"Mind you, I have a boyfriend." Jimin reminds Yoongi but he just rolls his eyes and keeps his phone back in his pocket.

"Mind you, I'm not asking." he deadpanned not minding the fact that Jimin spoiled an information to him. It would be beneficial to Yoongi but it wasn't a good info though.

"Make sure you're trustworthy because this is the first time I trusted myself on a stranger that I just met in a café." Yoongi showed his smile reassuring the young man.

"I won't make you regret, Jimin."

Yoongi wanted to stay long but for the record, he's been awake for the whole twenty-six hours he might not make it back to his penthouse.

"I'll go ahead, Jimin. See you around." he stands up, his feet felt heavy.

"Nice meeting you, Yoongi. See you." Jimin waved a hand and spurts Yoongi his sweet smile which somehow motivates him to walk like a sober man.

He walks out the café and forces himself to walk despite of the heavy feeling. He needs to sleep now because after a long sleep he knew he'll never leisurely consume his time for just himself but now also for a deity like, ethereal art named Park Jimin.
