Work Text:

It’s been a few days since Katsuki could come home from the hospital. He was up and able to move around now, but it was still suggested that he wait another week before going back to work.  Having to stay home while Eijirou was out there without him made him restless. He didn’t like not being by Eijirou’s side, especially after what happened the other day.

“Fucking shitty hair going off to work without me.” Katsuki grumbled and sank lower into the couch. He hated feeling useless, especially considering Eijirou refused to even let him stand to cook. He grabbed a magazine, the same magazine he’s already read three or four times just today. There was a major spread in here about Eijirou and how he became a hero. There was even a little section in here about who inspired him to become a hero.

I first wanted to be a hero after I saw Crimson Riot on television one day. I applied to UA as soon as I possibly could just to follow in his footsteps. I wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for my partner Blasty. He kicked me in my ass on a couple of occasions. If it weren’t for him, I would have given up my dream a long time ago.

“Katsu, I’m home!” Eijirou threw open the door and took his shoes off. He bought extra spicy ramen for Katsuki since it’s his favorite thing to eat. It’s been four days since Katsuki came home from the hospital. It’s been almost two weeks now since the incident happened where Katsuki was stabbed. “Why do you look like a tomato?”

“It’s nothing shitty hair.” Katsuki’s cheeks were flushed and he flung the magazine across the room. He would not have his partner find out that he found the article. Especially not now when they’ve finally talked about their feelings and became a couple. It was weird the first night they shared the apartment as an actual couple. Even though they’d been sharing the apartment since they graduated from UA.

“Aw c’mon Katsu. Fine, have some extra spicy ramen to cheer up.” Eijirou waved the bag in front of Katsuki’s face slightly. He grinned and set the bag on the table finally out of reach from his boyfriend. He could hear Katsuki grumbling under his breath about “at least he remembered”. What Katsuki didn’t know, was that Eijirou remembered almost everything.

“I’m going into the office to do some paper work tomorrow.” Eijirou froze when he heard Katsuki say this. There was no way he’d allow Katsuki anywhere out of the house until he was completely healed. Not when it was possible for another villain attack at full scale like that. “I can’t keep fucking sitting around here doing nothing.”

“Katsu please, the doctor said another week.” Eijirou placed a couple of cans of Pepsi on the table and sat on the couch. He didn’t want to argue with Katsuki about this, not when it was dangerous out there. All the villains know what happened two weeks ago to Katsuki, it’s been the talk of the town basically. Every chance they got, they always brought up the “hero who got what was coming to him”.

“This shit is getting ridiculous. I can’t keep fucking sitting here. I can at least do paperwork. I won’t leave the fucking office.” Katsuki sighed and pulled his knees up to his chest. He didn’t want to argue with Eijirou, not now. Not when they were finally figuring things out about each other. Now that they were more than friends, Katsuki was afraid to ruin the peace.

“Katsuki please, I can’t risk you getting hurt.” Eijirou reached to grab Katsuki’s hand, but Katsuki moved away slightly. Eijirou sighed and leaned back against the couch and stared at the ceiling. What would it hurt to let him come to the office? He’ll let Katsuki decide in the morning what he’d do then. There wasn’t any reason to really say no if he’ll just be sitting there. “You can decide in the morning then Katsu. Let’s eat before it gets colder, okay?”

Eijirou watched Katsuki nod and pick up his container of ramen. With the first bite, his eyes lit up and he acted like he was a kid in the candy store. They’ve been ordering from the same ramen shop for years, and they always make sure Katsuki gets the spiciest ramen. They even throw in some extra spice when they know Katsuki needs cheering up. In the matter of a few minutes, Katsuki had drained his container dry and placing it back on the table.

“Thank you.” Katsuki whispered quietly, but Eijirou nodded his head and gave a small smile before dropping a noddle on his face. Katsuki laughed out loud before covering his mouth to hide his smile. Eijirou was always a messy eater, he had been ever since they met in UA. He sighed and handed Eijirou a napkin with a smile on his face, “stupid shitty hair always making a mess.”

“I take offense! You wouldn’t love me if I was a clean freak.” Eijirou placed his empty container on the couch next to Katsuki’s and laid his head on Katsuki’s legs. He looked up at Katsuki, and he smiled gently. He’s happy that they finally figured out the truth. It was better than trying to ignore the feelings bubbling over the surface.

“You’re right, two clean freaks in one house would be a nightmare.” Katsuki laughed and ran his fingers though Eijirou’s hair. Ever since they graduated UA, Eijirou took to keeping his hair down. It was long enough for a ponytail, and it just made him even hotter than he already was. Soon enough, Katsuki would have to be beating women and men alike off with a stick.

“Are we sleeping on the couch again or in the bed?” Eijirou placed his hand on Katsuki’s cheek. Katsuki flicked Eijirou on the forehead and smiled. Eijirou yelled “hey!” before Katsuki knocked him on the floor and moving quickly towards the bedroom. By the time Eijirou got up and walked to the bedroom, Katsuki was laying on the bed with Eijirou’s crimson riot shirt on.

Eijirou stripped off his own shirt and pants before diving onto the bed, coming up to lay next to Katsuki. He wrapped an arm around Katsuki and pulled him closer slowly. Katsuki laid his head on Eijirou’s bare chest and drew tiny circles on his stomach. It’s been years since he’s been this close to Eijirou. Even during their cuddle sessions in high school, it was usually the girls laying on Eijirou’s chest.

“I won’t go to the office if you don’t want me to.” Katsuki’s voice was soft as he trailed a finger up and down Eijirou’s chest. He didn’t want to do anything that might have Eijirou be mad at him, but if they were cuddling like this, then Eijirou must not have been too mad. “It’s just, I feel useless right now.”

“It’s okay Katsuki. If you want to do paperwork, I’m sure it’ll be fine. Get some sleep now baby.” Eijirou blushed when he realized what he said. He’d never used pet names before for anyone, let alone Katsuki. Katsuki however just laughed, kissed his chin and cuddled up closer to Eijirou. He heard a faint I love you come from Katsuki before his soft snores filled the room. How anyone could fall asleep that quick was beyond him.

When we were together, I knew that forever

I'd always, my days, Follow you into the blue beyond

Dream with one another, Help each other over the rainbow

You know, I'd follow you into the blue beyond

Eijirou sang quietly into the dark of the room. It’s been a long time since he sang, but he felt it was right. He didn’t necessarily want to voice these feelings in broad daylight to Katsuki’s face. Seeing Katsuki’s peaceful sleeping form though, it made his heart swell up with love. He just wanted to keep his boyfriend safe, no matter through what.

He’d follow Katsuki anywhere he wanted to go, even if it was to the edge of the Earth. Eijirou pulled the blanket up around them and kissed the top of Katsuki’s head. He closed his eyes and fell asleep quickly. Dreaming of the future, and what it might bring for them. If they had each other, they’d be okay.
