It’s obvious Frigga was the only one able to see the future, but it didn’t mean she couldn’t tell someone about the future. So, she told Loki before her death. She told him that even with his mistakes and bad actions, Midgard was reserving to him a great future, a great gift. Unecessary to say that Loki didn’t believed at first sight, but when Odin reported his banishment to Migard as way to pay everything he did, Loki started to believe in his mother.
Thor helped Loki to find a place to him in Midgard. A flat in a city called London. Loki was stunned, to say at least, with the way the Midgardians created the things. At certain point, Thor went back to Asgard and Loki was alone once again. At certain point, Loki got accostumed to his Midgardian life. At certain point, Loki started to enjoy it.
Was a cold Monday, November was starting and with it the cold hit london in a way Loki didn’t believed. To him, the weather was quite perfect. He entered at the coffee store — every Monday, Loki did it. It was his routine. He stood in the line, waiting to order his warm coffee. Childish laughs coming to his ear. It was his soft spot: children. Loki turned his head to meet the little one that had that sweet laugh and everything he saw was incredible bright blue eyes. He grew up with Thor, the one he believe had the most amazing blue eyes he had ever seen, but now Loki knew he was wrong — this intriguing little Midgardian had eyes more blue than Thor. He smiled to the kid, and the little waved to him, it made Loki’s day.
The week had passed and Loki kept repeting to himself that, at the Monday, he wasn’t going to search for those bright blue eyes again. No, he wasn’t. But of course the God failed miserably. At the moment he stepped into the coffee store, his eyes searched for the little kid, but didn’t found anything. The children with blonde curls wasn’t there.
Months passed and Loki kept his routine. The bright blue eyes was almost — almost — forgot. One Monday, coming back from the coffee store, Loki passed through the place where Mothers took their children to play. As instinct, Loki turned his head when he heard that sweet laugh again. He had found, once again, the kid with bright blue eyes and blond curls. Once again, Loki smiled. That night he dreamt with Frigga. She was wearing a white dress and looking happier than she was in a long time. She grabbed Loki’s hand into hers. “I told you so, didn’t I? Midgard showed to you the gift you will, in the future, receive.” And Loki woke up sweating, without understand what was this gift.
More months had passed away and, even more often, he was encountering the child with blue eyes. Once, talked with his mother and discovered that his name was Thomas. Since that day, Loki started believe in fate. Why? Because he saw magic marks, the ones only someone like Loki or Frigga could see. That day, Loki understood what was, no, who was his gift. Frigga was right.
Loki became Thomas William “protector”. Never showing himself, but always ready to protect the Midgardian. Loki was always around him. He was there at the first day of school. Loki was in every birthday. Loki was in his first play theater. Loki was even at his first kiss. He was every where, but Tom couldn’t see him. The God saw a boy turning into man, making his own decisions, fight against his family to become an actor. Loki heard with Thomas the many “No’s” he received, but Loki was there when he heard the first “Yes” and started to shoot his first movie. It was the first time Loki felt pride for someone beyond himself.
When Tom cried at night, Loki was the one who comforted him — but the man kept not seeing the God. Many years passed, with them Thomas’ indecisions about himself and his job. One night, he received a invite to play a Norse God on a Marvel movie, and let’s just say that Loki “helped” Tom to choose his character. Once again, Loki was feeling proud of Thomas.
But finally the God made an deicision. It happened when Tom finished to shoot Thor 2. He was back to his flat, with only a few days to rest. When the Midgardian stepped into his bedroom, he was shocked: someone identical to Loki was sat on his read chair, with legs crossed and looking to him. Thomas’ jaw fell open. “My goodness…” He put his hand over his chest and, suddenly, memories filled his brain. He had seen Loki many times before! “You… I know you were real. Oh my…” Loki was giving a small smile to Thomas.
“I see you remembered me,” the God said much calm. “some of my attempts to keep hid failed. My apologies for only show myself right now.” Tom nodded to Loki. He was aware of the God’s presence in his entire life. “But I see you felt me, as well. Thomas, I need to—” But Loki was cut by lips pressed against his mouth. How long he waited for it? Probably since Tom became a man, a long time ago.
And that night, Loki stayed on Thomas’ flat and explained a bunch of things to hi . Even his magic marks — he was meant to be of Loki’s since his birth. And more nights Loki stayed with Tom, because Loki was his too, Loki was meant to be of Tom’s. They were meant to be.
