"Why out of all people am I in love with you, Kim Namjoon?"

Summary:

Namjoon wants to make sure Seokjin always has fun. And if that means embarrassing each other in front of hundreths of people with their dance moves, so be it.

Notes:

I'm sorry for not updating my other stories but I've had serious writer's block lately and I stumbled upon this prompt that actually made me stress free a little? It also helped me think clearly about other ideas so I'm going to start this Namjin Prompt Series so I can continue being fine. Chapters will be sort of short but that means faster updates so stay in check :) Hope you enjoy this!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"Let's go."

"No."

"Why not? It'll be fun!"

"I'm perfectly fine in my seat, Namjoon."

Namjoon scoffed and crossed his arms in his seat. He stared at the wedding going on in front of him, examining the decorations, to the newly weds, and finally, the dance floor. Oh Namjoon was definitely not giving this up.

"Scaredy cat." Namjoon mumbled. Seokjin finally turned his head from his chair, the same chair he has been miserably been slumped in for the past two hours. The only reason Seokjin and Namjoon were here in the first place was because it was Seokjin's favorite cousin's wedding that he couldn't exactly not attend.

"What did you say?" Seokjin challenged, eyebrow raised and arms crossed at hearing his boyfriend's mumble. Namjoon turned his head to look at his boyfriend with an equally challenged look, "Scaredy. Cat." Namjoon childishly repeated. Seokjin fumed in his seat before he stubbornly looked back ahead.

"I'm not scared Namjoon. I just don't feel like embarrassing myself in front of my entire family." The elder responded. Namjoon rolled his eyes.

"So? Who cares! I'll be dancing right next you and I'm the worst dancer on the planet. They won't even notice you." Namjoon continued to pry. He knew his boyfriend was bored and he knew Seokjin enjoyed dancing too despite both of their lack of the subject. But Namjoon wanted his boyfriend to have a great time.

It was Seokjin's turn to scoff now after hearing Namjoon, "You're the worst dancer?? Please, I'm pretty sure I beat you by a million."

Namjoon raised his eyebrow, crossing his arms and giving the other a challenging look, "Are you declaring Worst Dancer duel?"

Seokjin hated the intimidating look Namjoon was sending off to him, so before he had time to realize what he was saying, he had firmly responded, "Yes. I am."

Namjoon smirked before standing up and grabbing Seokjin's hand, leading both of them to the main dance floor. Namjoon saw the looks already thrown at the two but brushed them off, Seokjin doing the same.

The DJ was playing an upbeat hip hop song, making it a whole lot easier on Namjoon to start. So before Seokjin can regret what he was doing, Namjoon started doing a move that kind of made him seem like he was having a heart attack. He was standing firmly on the ground but his hands were waving around while he made strong facial expressions.

"Think you could beat this?" Namjoon said while he continued moving, his face looking like it was enjoying the music more than his body. Seokjin had to keep from bursting out into laughter so instead, he went back into focus and began doing a very wacky version of his famous traffic light dance.

Soon, the two were doing moves they had never once done before in their lives. The couple danced hard as if they were dying or getting a seizure. Seokjin would playfully shove and laugh at Namjoon occasionally at his stupid looking dances before starting his own stupid ones. They danced and danced as if this was their last night together.

Before they knew it, the two were drenched in sweat, clothes stuck to their body as they breathed heavily in and out. It was their first time that night that they had finally stopped dancing. It was also the first time the couple had realized they were the only ones left on the dance floor.

And that every single pair of eyes were on them.

Seokjin blushed bright red at the looks they recieved but it wasn't really noticeable since his face had already been red from all the excessive dancing.

"It was nice meeting everyone but it's really getting late for us. Bye now and congratulations to the new wed couple!" Namjoon mumbled quickly before grabbing Seokjin's hand and dragging them both out the door.

"Bye Mom! Dad!" Seokjin sputtered out nervously to his still shocked parents before disappearing out the room with Namjoon.

The two walked in the parking lot over to their car in relatively silence, enjoying the dark night sky and cool air. Just saying, Seokjin remembers there being sunlight when they had began their dance duel.

The two quietly got into their own side of the car and shut the door, both of them finally sighing out loud in disbelief of their night.

"So...that was fun, right?" Namjoon sheepishly grinned. Seokjin slowly looked over him and let out a very audible sigh.

"Why out of all people am I in love with you, Kim Namjoon?" Seokjin asked, but couldn't help but break into a smile. Namjoon grinned as Seokjin turned back to look ahead.

"Just saying, I won that."
