Summary
Lance always had a huge family. Being the youngest of his siblings, of course, had its own challenges but he wouldn't say that he ever didn't like being a part of it. In fact, Lance would say that he loved his family. Big it may be but it was also a source of comfort and support. His Mama and Abuela would always be there for him, his brothers and sisters would always cheer him on, his Papa would never stop believing in him.
When he said he wanted to be a pilot, they never said 'no'. They never talked about how expensive it could be or how far away from home he would be. All they said was 'Lance, follow your dreams'.
So, of course, when Lance found out that his family wasn't actually his family after all, he felt more than a little lost. Add that to the fact that he was in the middle of uncharted territory, on the other side of the galaxy. Vast space felt much bigger than he can remember.
