Work Text:
Yoongi wakes up and he immediately realizes that things are Not Right.
His first clue is that his bed is way too comfortable. Like wayyyy too comfortable. His bed in the dorms is neither this big nor this just-right combination of firmness and softness. And his pillows are not this fluffy. Also his comforter is not this great. For a split second he wonders if he got drunk and he drunk-fucked someone but no, that can’t be it because he actually very clearly remembers last night. He drank that weird juice thing that Jimin brought and made him and Seokjin drink as a dare, but it wasn’t alcoholic. He drank it. It tasted disgusting. He spat it back out in Jimin’s face, Seokjin would have yelled at him for that but was too busy choking on his own drink, and then they just went on their business of the rest of dinner.
He rolls over in his bed to find that there is actually someone else in the bed, which makes him wonder again if he did get drunk after all. He curses inwardly and carefully sits up, craning his neck to see who it is.
He blinks.
It’s Seokjin. And before if he can wonder if he’s fucked Seokjin last night, he realizes Seokjin is very fully clothed, in his usual nighttime wear of a worn-out t-shirt. Yoongi checks under their blankets to see that, yes, Seokjin also has his shorts on, and so does he, so unless they drunk-fucked and somehow also got all their clothes back on, he figures that no, they did not drunk-fuck.
He considers waking Seokjin up, but the door to their room opens and before he can even comprehend anything, a ball of something small rushes to their bed and jumps on top of him. The ball screams, “WAKE UP!!!!!!”
Seokjin scrambles awake almost immediately and he grabs at whatever ball it was that jumped on top of them, looking confused when he realizes it’s a little boy. Said little boy grins at Yoongi and cuddles into Seokjin’s arms. “Uh,” Seokjin whispers, looking at Yoongi, back down at the little boy, and then back at Yoongi. “Who- Yoongi, what?” Yoongi can’t help but smile a little at the way Seokjin instinctively wraps his arms around the child anyway.
“I don’t know. If this is Jimin and Hoseok’s idea of a joke..” Yoongi gets up, eying the little boy before a photo on the wall catches his eye. It’s him. And Seokjin. And the kid. In what looks like a family portrait. The same photo catches Seokjin’s eyes, and Seokjin blinks at it before looking back at the child. He blinks and looks back up at Yoongi. Yoongi blinks at him before crossing the room to the drawer, which has more pictures. It’s more of Yoongi, Seokjin, and the child, in different combinations, although most of them are Seokjin and the child laughing. It seems like a very, very, very elaborate joke. Yoongi isn’t even sure if Hoseok and Jimin can afford it.
Seokjin gets off the bed, and he’s holding the boy in his arms. The boy looks comfortable with his head resting on Seokjin’s shoulder and Seokjin looks so natural holding him like that. “Yoongi,” Seokjin whispers again, looking around. “What is going on?”
The boy speaks up. “Mommy, why do you sound worried? Is something wrong?”
Mommy. Seokjin blinks rapidly at that, and then looks to Yoongi for help. Yoongi blinks back at him, unsure, but Seokjin just shifts the weight in his arms. “Uh. No, nothing. Should we go over what’s on the to-do list for today?” He sounds awkward as he pads over to Yoongi, eyes wide in a plea for help. Yoongi holds his hands out in an offer to take the child out of Seokjin’s arms, but Seokjin just shakes his head and shifts the weight in his arms once again. He leans over and whispers, “Try to figure out what’s going on.”
“Well, you promised that I could go over to Uncle Kookie’s to play today! Uncle Kookie said he was gonna come pick me up.”
“Right.” Seokjin nods, eyes wide. “Okay, let’s get you ready for that, and then – “ He looks to Yoongi again, who’s looking around at more photos. There’s a huge family portrait hanging above the couch that Yoongi really doesn’t think anyone in Bangtan could have done for a prank. He and Seokjin exchange glances and then Seokjin sighs. He just hugs the child tighter to him and takes him to the bathroom, where Yoongi hears the water start running. He runs back into the bedroom and starts digging around. He’s pretty certain this is a dream, but dream-Yoongi is still Yoongi. Where would he keep important documents?
His eyes catch the big wardrobe and the drawers at the bottom. He yanks the drawers open to find a bunch of documents, including his and Seokjin’s passports. They look normal, like their old passports – except the numerous stamps of visas from traveling overseas for concerts are all gone. He sets them aside and digs around more and freezes when he comes across a marriage certificate. Between him and Seokjin.
He swallows thickly. He’s now certain that this is not a prank and it must be a dream. There’s no way anyone could have forged official documents, especially not the seal. Gay marriage isn’t even allowed in Korea. He puts the certificate aside for now and finds a birth certificate. It’s not adoption papers. It’s a birth certificate listing Seokjin as the mother and him as the father.
Yoongi stares as it for a while, and then just slowly puts it down. He’ll deal with that later. The child’s name on papers is Min Sejin. He shoves the papers back into the drawer when he hears the bathroom door open and jumps up. “Sejin,” he says, looking pointedly at Seokjin. “Why don’t you come to, uh, daddy. So.. you know. Mom can cook us something.”
“Sejin,” Seokjin repeats, and then looks down at the child who’s clutching onto his wrist. “Right. Sejin, go to daddy so mommy can make us breakfast.”
Apparently Sejin doesn’t find this strange at all, because he runs to Yoongi and starts literally climbing up Yoongi’s pants.
--
They manage to get through breakfast and ‘Uncle Kookie’ (it really does turn out to be Jungkook) comes to pick Sejin up. “When are you going to bring him back?” Seokjin asks, hovering a little as Jungkook laces Sejin’s shoes.
Jungkook rolls his eyes at him. “Trust me a little. I’ve always brought him in one piece.” He grins at Sejin. “Right, kiddo?” When Seokjin doesn’t look convinced, Jungkook rolls his eyes again. “Hyung, relax. I’ll have your kid back after lunch. Don’t you trust your little brother even a little? I mean. Mom and dad are gonna be there, too. I guess I could see you not trusting dad, though, not after that incident with the toaster…”
“Little brother?” Seokjin squeaks. When Jungkook gives him a look, Seokjin clears his throat. “Right. Uh. No. No, I don’t, really. Jungkook, just-“
“Be careful, yeah, yeah.” Jungkook grins and takes Sejin by the hand. “We’re gonna have a blast at grandma’s, yeah?” Sejin squeals delightedly and before Jungkook closes the door, he raises his eyebrow at Yoongi. “You aren’t giving me some snob about how you’re gonna be doing my brother into the mattress and get him pregnant again?”
Yoongi can literally feel his face burn up immediately and can see Seokjin’s ears are a bright red. “Jungkook!” Seokjin hisses, looking scandalized at the child, but Sejin doesn’t seem to have really processed.
Jungkook only shrugs. “Hey, just asking. I guess you ran out of innuendos to say around Sejin, huh?” He smirks at Yoongi and shuts the door.
They stare at the shut door for a while and Seokjin collapses onto the floor. “Oh, my god. Yoongi, what’s going on? What did he mean, my little brother? Also, pregnant again? Again?! I can get pregnant?”
Seokjin is near hyperventilating, so Yoongi awkwardly pats his shoulders. It doesn’t really seem to help. He instead says, “Well, I’m convinced this is apparently some dream that we’re married with a kid named Sejin, except apparently we’re sharing the same dream. Also, yeah. Uh, I found a birth certificate instead of adoption papers. And uh, pregnancy photos.”
“We aren’t dreaming.” Seokjin says.
“What? How the hell do you know?”
Seokjin says, matter-of-factly, “I pinched myself earlier. I hurt.”
“Hyung, I really don’t think that’s a legitimate way of telling if we’re dreaming or not.” Yoongi sighs and hoists Seokjin up so he’s not sitting by the front doors with the shoes (impeccably organized, Yoongi notices, most likely Seokjin’s work). “The only hint I can get that this isn’t a dream is that we apparently seem to be sharing the same dream, unless my dream is being really crazy and it’s created you to be like this. Let’s skip that for now since that’s going to just make my head hurt, so we’re somehow in the same dream.”
“Yoongi, that’s not possible. A dream isn’t a world or anything; it’s literally your brain just working during the night. I mean, oversimplified but I’m not a psychologist or anything.”
“I know. Okay, I know. What else do you think this could be, then?” Yoongi narrows his eyes. “I doubt this is a prank, it’s way too elaborate.”
Seokjin swallows thickly and sighs. “I don’t know. Some sort of alternate universe? That stupid drink that Jimin gave us that you spat out in Jimin’s face and I threw back up?”
Yoongi looks at him. “That’s so ridiculous that it just might be the answer. I’m going to fucking kill Jimin when we get wake up or get back or whatever.”
Seokjin only sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. “Right. Can we figure out what’s going on first? So you and I… are married.”
“Right.”
“And Jungkook is apparently my younger brother.”
“Right.”
“And… I got pregnant. And gave birth to our son.”
Yoongi scrunches his nose. “Right. Okay, I don’t know how that’s possible, either. Here’s just – okay, there are pregnancy photos.” He pushes the photo albums he’d taken out to Seokjin’s direction. Seokjin opens them and scans them, almost fearfully, but his eyes soften, and Yoongi knows why. The pictures made him feel warm. Seokjin and Yoongi in the photos are obviously in love and incredibly happy. Yoongi hasn’t seen that much happiness in himself, ever.
Seokjin rubs his temples and gets up. “Whatever it is, we have to figure it out soon. We have until lunch before Sejin comes back.” He pauses. “..There must have been a Seokjin and Yoongi here. A couple that was married, that had a kid, and had this life. Do you think they’re… you know. Where we used to be?”
“God, I hope not. I don’t know if housewife Seokjin can pull off our choreography.” Yoongi glances and smirks. “Not that, you know, you can, either- Ow!” Seokjin sticks out his tongue and Yoongi just shakes his head. “I deserved that one.”
“Sure did.”
