Work Text:

The empty house creaked as you walked through it. The bedroom was empty, the large king sized bed disheveled, just as it was when you both left. The closet was full of clean clothes, freshly iron from a couple of days ago. Jotaro hadn't gotten around to wearing them yet. Closing the closet door, you turned and left the room you once shared.

The hallway wall filled with memories. Your wedding day. Joseph cried during the vows. You smiled at the thought of the seventy-year-old man crying during the vow exchanges. The next picture was of Jolyne, the first time Jotaro laid his eyes on her he knew she was his. It was the first time in a while you saw him misty-eyed. Moving on to more of the photographs, another was a sly picture Polnareff had took of you two during the trip to Egypt. Jotaro was embracing you in a big kiss, he was rarely affectionate back then, but you had both gotten out of a dangerous scuffle. He could've lost you...

....

You now sat in the living room you that was filled with more happy memories of the man you loved. You could've sworn you heard him and Jolyne laughing during one of their play fights, but it was distant. It wasn't really there. That was then, not now. Now, it was barren, empty. More pictures of him and Jolyne, laughing and smiling in the park, and at Sea World. The room was dark, the only light was the setting sun that streamed in through the windows. The room was cold, a shiver ran up your spine, but you didn't care. That was the first thing you've felt in awhile that wasn't sadness. The lump in your throat refused to leave, no matter how hard you swallowed. You let out a shakey breath, your hands shook as you rubbed the DISC in your hand. You stared at the words written in black sharpie.

'Star Platinum'

In your other hand lay Jotaro's memories. You don't know how you managed to get these from Pucci, or how he managed to get them from Jotaro before he died. Tears welled up in your eyes, they dropped to the DISCS in front of you.

Jotaro was dead.

Jolyne was dead.

The love of your life, your daughter- they were both gone for good. There was no way you could've saved them, no matter how hard you tried. There was a chance Star Platinum would reject you as his new User. You couldn't blame him if he did. The man he's known for so long, that you both knew for so long was dead. If Star wanted to stay in his DISC forever, so be it. Nervously, you made preparations to see if Star Platinum would accept you as his new User.

After an agonizing minutes, you slowly waited to see what Star Platinum would do.

..

.....

.........

He accepted you. You let out a gasp of relief, covering your mouth with your hand as you fought back the tears that desperately tried to be released. Almost instantly, Star Platinum emerged from you. He stared at you with somber eyes.

Star Platinum knew what happened.

"I-I miss him so much, Star.." Your voice was barely a whisper.

"Ora..." He murmured.

You could've sworn you could see tears in the Stands eyes, too. Seeing Star reminded you so much of him. His chest, his hair, his face... It all screamed 'Jotaro Kujo' to you. The tears broke free, your entire body shook as the sobs overtook your capacity to speak. Immediately, you felt Star Platinum embrace you, squeezing you tight. It offered little comfort, but you still desperately clung to his body.

Something wet fell on your back, you looked up. Silent tears were streaming from Star Platinum's eyes. Sniffling, you leaned up and wiped away his tears with your thumb.

"It's okay." You said between hyperventilated breaths. "We have each other."

Both you and Stand sat in the living room, crying. Many minutes passed before you both were able to compose yourselves.

"He died saving Jolyne."

Star picked you up and held you close, such as you both did many nights before whenever you were sad. It brought you back to a particular night when you were upset, Star Platinum has always been your guardian spirit. With Jotaro and Jolyne gone, the only familiar face he had was you. The countless nights of helping you calm down a screaming baby Jolyne, comforting you, being by you...

You were all he had left. He was all you had left.

He wasn't going to let anything happen to you.

Not you. Star can't lose you too. His grip tightened around you, and he held you close.

He stroked your hair, you were still hyperventilating but slowly calming down. "Ora."

The reassuring 'ora's' were somewhat calming. The deep rumbles of his chest as he spoke, the gentle rising and falling of his chest... He had so many mannerisms and the stature of Jotaro. You were starting to get upset again, but buried your face in his chest and tried to focus on anything except your fallen husband and daughter.

"I loved both of them, so much. He... wasn't much of a good father, but he loved her. Jotaro wouldn't have let anything happen to our baby girl. Not our Jolyne."

"Ora." Star Platinum nodded. Rubbing your back protectively, you both lay down on the couch, holding one another. It was unspoken, but you both know that you needed the other more than ever now.

Curiosity nagged at you to watch Jotaro's memory DISC. No. That was something for another day. You thought. Not right now.

Maybe things will be better with time. You and Star had each other, you can help the other through this. Lord only knows what it's like for Star Platinum to be going through this.

Star looked down at you, you were laying limp in his arms. Your eyes dropped from the tears, you were obviously tired. His features softened, and he gently rocked back and forth. You yawned, and turned to your side. He gently set you down on the couch, and moved to the window. Star Platinum looked out the window, the sun was setting. You needed rest, he would stand guard.

No one would bring harm to you.

Not like they did to the two people he loved.

Not anymore.

After awhile, Star gently faded away, retreating back into your body where he also rest.

They say time heals all wounds, but does it really?
