A Simple Song

Summary:

Yoongi is jealous of his hyung's attention on everyone but him. So he decides to take matters into his own hands.

The legendary 'eternal roommate'

Notes:

I had this in my head for a while so I decided to finally write it! It was almost Jinkook, but then a man named Min Yoongi decided to write a letter...
My interpretation of Bon Voyage Yoonjin basically. The timeline of certain events in BV is skewed in this fic just to make it flow better for me.

I have never posted on this site, and I haven't written in YEARS, so I apologize for this being bad. It's rushed and not beta-ed so all mistakes are mine.

Title is from The Shins because that's what I was listening to when I wrote this haha so original.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

If anyone ever confronted him about it, Yoongi would fervently deny. But on the days when it’s eight hours in the studio of just him and the same two blocks of recording because he just can’t get it right, Yoongi actually prefers to be surrounded by the “dulcet” sounds of the dorm.

Even on chaotic days like this.

As he lies on his back, enveloped by their barely used sofa, he can feel all the muscle strain from sitting in his chair all day coupled with the rigorous dance practices just sink to his spine, as if being absorbed by the cushions. He lets out a sigh of content as his mind drifts.

He hears Namjoon pacing in his room as he alternates between reading as many Hawaii travel guides as he can and packing while excitedly chatting with Hobi about what sites to see.

Sejin hyung and Taehyung are embroiled in their third screaming match of the day. For. The. Last. Time. You cannot bring your 2 million won Gucci silk shirts to Hawaii.

“I hate this family!”

Yoongi’s vaguely aware of the conversation right in front of him. “Blue shell me one more time Kookie. I fucking dare you.”

Both their faces contorted, brows set where he could see sweat starting to form. Huh, there must have banana milk on the line.

The furious clacking of the controllers and yelling continues for a few minutes and he can predict what will come soon.

“Goddammit, you cheated!” Jimin yells as he throws his controller to the floor and jumps up immediately, stomping his foot like a petulant child. Unfazed and already setting up the next game Jungkook shrugs, “Whatever makes you feel better hyung.”

Yoongi begins to close his eyes. Just another day.

“Tae would agree with me,” mumbles Jimin with a huff. Jungkook snorts, “Well that’s no surprise, you and Tae are idiots.” Jimin looks affronted, as if someone killed his cat in front of his eyes.

“Excuse you, Taetae and I are perfect. We’re perfect being perfect.” Jungkook scoffs and stares at Jimin with judgmental eyes, “Please, don’t make me laugh. Jin hyung and I would be a better couple than you guys.”

“WHAT!” Jimin gasps, eyes wide like saucers, stumbling backwards. “Take that back!”

“No.” “Take it back!” “No.”

“Everyone knows Jin hyung and I have the best chemistry. We’re clearly perfect for each other.” Jungkook sniffs all while breaking the high score in Mario Kart.

Yoongi’s eyes snap open.

What.

“What.” A voice deadpans.

Jungkook pauses the game and smiles up sheepishly at the person who just entered the room. “Jinnie hyung!!” Kim Seokjin warily looks between a seething Jimin and an innocent looking Jungkook. He sighs, taking off his jacket and shoes, trading them for his slippers. “What’s going on?”

“Jungkook is being a little di—“

“I’m just harmlessly explaining to Jimin hyung, that you and I have the best chemistry of this band hyung. I mean it’s obvious Jinkook is better than Vmin,” he resumes the game and continues but not before shrugging his shoulders and adding, “Just the truth.”

“You’re cute JK. Cute and delusional.” Seokjin plucks the controller from Jungkook’s hand and becomes more focused on the TV screen, not fazed by his dongsaeng’s antics.

“Aw hyung come onn,” Jungkook goads with his famous bunny smile plastered on his face, “we’d be so good together.” Seokjin can’t help but snort as he completes the final lap with ease and tosses aside his controller, a playful smile of his own forming. This kid. He’s about to move away when Jungkook chases after him, determined to make his case, “Army thinks we’d look good together too, I see it on Twitter all the time! You should think about it.”

Seokjin stares dumbfounded at the maknae and his shit eating grin.

What the fuck?

He’s planning something. Seokjin decides it’s better to get out while he can.

“Listen, as amusing as this is, we all need to finish packing,” Seokjin says slowly, still eyeing Jungkook carefully. Maybe they’re drunk?

Jungkook sends a sly wink his way, “don’t pack too much hyung, you won’t be needi—“

A deep booming voice interrupts, “Jiminie, did we win the banana milk?”

Taehyung skips into the room freshly showered, hair still damp. Jimin practically flings himself across the room to wrap around his boyfriend and bury his face in his neck “Tae, Jungkook thinks him and Jin hyung would be a better couple than us.”

“Well that’s just not true.” Taehyung pauses before squinting his eyes skeptically, “Wait…isn’t Yoongi hyung ban—“

“YOONGI HYUNG IS SLEEPING”

“DON’T YOU NEED TO PACK MORE??”

Jimin and Jungkook both shout at the same time, a wild look on their face. They whip their heads to Seokjin who looks up from his phone clearly not paying attention, “what?”

Jungkook lets out a relieved sigh. “Nothing hyung, you’re right we have to pack, long day ahead of tomorrow oh man what a day—yup good chat well gotta go!” and bolts out the room, Jimin who drags along Taehyung by the collar, hot on his heels.

Weird.

Meanwhile Yoongi’s pretty sure if he clenched his teeth anymore his jaw would break.

~~~
Seokjin trudges back to his room, ready to pass out after spending the last hour and a half helping an indecisive Taehyung pack for Hawaii (Hyung you haven’t convinced me yet that I won’t need my moccasins, I think we should revisit). He vows, never again.
As Seokjin enters the doorway he’s greeted by the sounds of slamming closet shelves and when he turns to look at Yoongi’s side, it’s as if a bomb went off. An alarm rings in his head as he gently closes the door, “Babe?” he asks slowly, not to upset the beast. He’s met with silence as Yoongi continues to grab various things and just slam them down on the opposite side of the room.
He tries again, “Not the most effective packing method I’ve seen.” Yoongi abruptly stops and just stares with dead eyes before picking up where he left off. “What’s going on with you?”
Yoongi scoffs, “Why don’t you ask your boyfriend?” Seokjin is genuinely puzzled, “I believe I just did…?”
Seokjin starts to mentally track back from last night to figure out what he could have possibly do—“Wait, is this about what Jungkook said? Were you awake?” He takes his boyfriend’s silence as a yes as he continues to pointlessly stomp around the room. Seokjin sighs at his antics, “And I’m the one labeled as a child.” He mutters under his breath.
Damage control.
“Babe you know he was just playing around right? Actually I think he was drunk if I’m being honest, or maybe he got into Hobi’s stash,” he muses. But his petulantly childish jealous boyfriend is beyond reason so he decides for the second route.
Seokjin, as attractively as one can, plops himself down on Yoongi’s bed, snuggling under his covers and just stares at Yoongi, reaching his hand out for him, “Come here,” he coaxes. Yoongi takes one look at Seokjin and sighs, he knows he’ll cave. Seokjin knows it too based on his smirk. Yoongi climbs onto the bed and into Seokjin’s waiting arms with a huff.
Seokjin chuckles at his boyfriend’s behavior. He immediately burrows his face in the junction of Yoongi’s neck and shoulder, nuzzling the skin softly with his nose, breathing in the faint scent of Yoongi’s coconut body wash before placing a soft kiss. Yoongi resists for exactly 0.5 seconds, a personal record, before his arms slowly come around Seokjin’s slim waist; his fingers gently caress the sliver of exposed skin. He feels his eyes close in content, letting whatever tension in his bones seep away.
“Babe what’s wrong?” Yoongi hesitates, not knowing how to voice his thoughts, “I—I don’t know, I know it was my choice but sometimes I hate having to hide us and I hate how touchy and open they get to be with you.” Seokjin immediately understands what he’s trying to say and pulls Yoongi closer, letting his actions speak.
It had been Yoongi’s idea in the beginning, back when they decided to venture into a relationship. However, Seokjin readily and whole-heartedly agreed. They’re both notoriously private anyways, and coupled with a new daunting relationship, they didn’t want to mess up. So, they decided to keep their relationship just between them.
As much as they love the other members, you couldn’t pay Taehyung with all the Gucci in the world to keep a secret.
It was definitely a learning curve in the beginning. Everything was so new, Seokjin found himself constantly wanting to talk about it with someone, while Yoongi would hole himself in his studio, trying to translate everything to lyrics. Several arguments, late night talks, and silent treatments later, they’re a well oiled machine.
It doesn’t stop Yoongi from still getting irrationally jealous. Seokjin used to get so frustrated at Yoongi’s jealousy, but now he’s well seasoned in how to handle it. He finds it adorable sometimes.
Like now.
“Yoongichi, you know I love you and only you and that will never change,” he croons while leaving a trail of kisses up and down from Yoongi’s ear to his neck, coaxing a quiet sigh of content from him. They stay silent for a few minutes, Seokjin grabs Yoongi’s hand and plays with those fingers he loves so much.
“Think of all the time we’ll probably have together in Hawaii,” Seokjin softly adds.
“You promise?” Yoongi gruffly responds. Seokjin inwardly smiles.
“You, me, walks along the beach at sunset, and you know…a couple cameras following us.”
Yoongi can’t hold in the snort, “Epitome of romance right there.” He can feel Seokjin’s wide smile on his neck as he playfully slaps Yoongi’s arm as they laugh together and fall back into comfortable silence. Seokjin reassures him one last time, “It’ll be fine.”
He’s right, Yoongi realizes. Everything will be fine.
~~~

It turns out to be not fine.

The minute they step foot off the plane, Jungkook decidedly glues himself to Seokjin’s hip. The two constantly have their heads bent together giggling as they trade jokes and punches. They decide that isn’t enough and to Yoongi’s disgust, embarrass everyone (read: Yoongi) with their obnoxious handshakes.

--

Hawaii is worlds apart from Seoul. Yoongi can smell the tinge of salt in the air everywhere they go. He’s amazed at the lack of mosquitoes for such a tropical location and surprised to learn the biggest nuisances around here are the geckos and pigs. Jimin lights up at that, “So we’ll get to eat pork every night then?”

While he’s still skeptical of his hyung’s ‘rule’ of saying Aloha to everyone you make eye contact with, it’s undeniable that the residents and tourists alike here are extremely friendly. Everything seems slowed down, and it’s nothing like the fast, frantic pace they’re used to in Korea.

Seokjin fits seamlessly into the culture of Hawaii as he happily dances around and bows, saying Aloha to anyone and anything that moves. Yoongi can’t stop smiling at his hyung, before it becomes too much and he bows his
head in embarrassment. Jungkook and Jimin also take advantage of ‘playful Seokjin’ as much as possible, the three linking arms and skipping like maniacs.

He should feel jealous, but he hasn’t felt this carefree in a long time. He’s lost in his thoughts, taking in the sights, when he casually looks behind him to see Seokjin and Jungkook’s fingers interlocked as they swing their hands back and forth between them. It doesn’t seem out of place with the maknae and the pseudo maknae and suddenly that pool of jealousy starts to form in his chest.

--

He decides to place his hopes in a different basket. Besides, Seokjin and Yoongi are trademark roommates. So when they decide to randomly assign sleeping arrangements, he holds his breath. Everyone reads out their numbers and when it gets to Seokjin, Yoongi clears his throat and attempts to casually add, “I think he’ll be in room one,” hoping that some higher power decides to take pity on him and make it happen.

It doesn’t happen. Instead he watches as Seokjin and Hoseok bounce off the walls, clutching each other in excitement at being roommates, much to his dismay. Yoongi, a 25 year old adult man, is immediately hit with the urge to collapse to the floor and have a full blown tantrum: whining, kicking, screaming, the whole works.

Anything to get his hyung’s attention.

--

“Yoongi let’s get shaved ice,” as Seokjin points to a truck parked near the beach. Yoongi readily agrees as they make their way over.

Today’s going to be a good day Yoongi decides. It’s finally his turn to go on an excursion with his boyfriend and he’s going to make the most of it. He pointedly tries to ignore the voice in the back of his head telling him but you have to share him.

Seokjin is bouncing with excitement next to him, eyes transfixed on the pile of flavored ice in front of them. As they both take a bite, Yoongi moans in surprise at how good it tasted. He put on a little show for the cameras, jokingly applauding and was pleased when Seokjin followed suit. Grinning together, they make their way over to a table.

“Hyung, give me some!” Yoongi turns just in time to see Seokjin delicately feed Jungkook not one, but two spoons of shaved ice. He sends his cute bunny smile Seokjin’s way, exclaiming how yummy it was, which has his hyung beaming. Yoongi rolls his eyes and is about to turn away when he catches Jungkook’s eye.

He winks at him. He winks at Yoongi before turning to an oblivious Seokjin who’s devouring their snack and cutely asks for more, clinging on to his arm.

Oh.

It’s on kid.

--

Later that evening they’re tasked with grocery shopping, and as they stroll down the aisles, Yoongi is taken back to their trainee days. He remembers when Seokjin and he would slip out to the convenience store down the block to pick up booze and snacks for everyone else.

“Yoongi do you remember when we had to stuff all those snacks and alcohol under our jackets to sneak them into the dorms?” Seokjin is grins as he pushes the cart along. “Hyung our telepathy really is no joke! I was just
thinking about that,” Yoongi chuckles, “and remember when manager hyung used to scold us because he thought we gained too much weight.”

They both laugh fondly at the memory. Seokjin is about to say something before Namjoon comes barreling into the cart holding a bag of chips, insisting that they buy it for him. Regardless, things are looking up.

--

Things are looking up even more when Jungkook’s shirtless tirade around the kitchen while Seokjin cooks spectacularly fails. His hyung is laser focused on getting the soup’s simmering point just right. Yoongi can’t help but snicker as Seokjin ignores Jungkook completely.

He can feel his chest puff up when instead Seokjin turns to feed him a spoonful of his ‘love soup’ asking if it needed more salt, trained on his expression. Yoongi insists it’s perfect as he takes his turn to feed Seokjin, admiring his hyung’s flawless face up close.

Seokjin’s face brightens, “You’re right Yoongi its good! I think it needs more spice though.”

--

As the sun beats down on them, Yoongi regrets not wearing a loose Hawaiian shirt like the rest of the members. He keeps adjusting his cap, pulling it lower towards his face. It’s the hottest day since they’ve been in Hawaii, and also the day they decided to spend in on the beach and in the water.

Yoongi’s resting on a rock, watching the crew film the dinosaur bones scattered along the wide plain. A pit stop on their way down to the ocean. Namjoon and Taehyung take turns modeling for each other while tourists who pass by stare in awe.

Suddenly Seokjin enters his line of vision as he stands right in front of Yoongi, blocking the sun with his head, making it look like he has a halo around him. Yoongi doesn’t know what possesses him before saying, “Hyung let’s take a funny picture.”

“Okay! Let’s use the dinosaur bones!” Seokjin says excitedly. They somehow end up with a picture of Yoongi viciously stabbing Seokjin with a dinosaur rib. They thank the stranger who insisted take the photo, and as Yoongi pulls Seokjin up they’re laughing, “I can’t believe you actually stabbed me, you asshole!”

Yoongi looks around to see the camera crew a distance away from them and subtly turns off his mic. He turns back to Seokjin with a sly smile, “Funny, you’ve never complained all the other times I boned you.” He adds a wink for good measure.

He enjoys his hyung’s red face as he splutters whipping around to see if anyone heard. “YOONGI!” he squeals as he playfully slaps Yoongi’s chest. Yoongi can still see his faint blush as he bites his lips to try hiding his smile and Yoongi feels a rush of warmth throughout his body.

Still making sure his mic is off he turns to Seokjin and sighs with a low tone, “Hyung I’m sorry we haven’t been able to spend a lot of time together. I know you were looking forward to it.”

Seokjin carefully schools his expression so he doesn’t expose everything before he responds, “Yoongichi please its fin—“

“Hyung! Come on we have to go.” They both turn to Jungkook who’s motioning to them. A sigh escapes Seokjin before he gives Yoongi an apologetic smile at turns to walk that way. As Yoongi makes his way closer, Yoongi glances over at Jungkook who’s staring back at him with an unreadable expression.

--

As the days wind down, so does the energy level. With only two days left Yoongi and Namjoon decide to stay inside and relax while the rest go out for shopping and an evening stroll. An hour or so passes by as Yoongi enjoys the quiet atmosphere before the door bursts open and he can hear the boisterous laughter echoing in the hallway.

He doesn’t think anything of it as he rises from his seat on the couch to grab a glass of water from the kitchen. When he gets back, he sees everyone huddled around a PD-nim’s camera watching back some footage. He’s curious as to what has everyone laughing.

“You guys are so shameless!” laughs Hoseok. Yoongi turns to the screen to see Seokjin and Jungkook walking down the sidewalk with their arms linked, pressed together. Nothing new. They’re laughing about something or another until they start singing the wedding march. Loudly.

What the fu—

“Jeon Seokjin.”

The laughter both on and off camera picks up again. Jungkook and Seokjin are fighting a pole now, singing even louder. The PD walks back into the room as he takes back the camera but not before adding, “You guys are too cute, Bang PD is going to get a kick out of this.”

“Dude you okay? What’s wrong with your face?” Yoongi wills his eye to stop twitching as he turns to Namjoon and tries to unclench is fists, “yeah I’m fine, I still got some sand in my eyes.” Namjoon nods in understanding before turning away.

As everyone disperses back into their own rooms, Yoongi stares down Jungkook as they pass each other by. The latter does nothing but smirk at him, there’s a glint in his eyes.

Keep up old man.

Yoongi’s eye doesn’t stop twitching for another 20 minutes.

As he cradles his lukewarm beer, rocked by the gentle waves of the ocean, Yoongi relives the past few hours. When they found out they would have to write and read out letters for the cameras, Yoongi inwardly groaned. He hated this kind of fanservice. But when he found out he would write to Seokjin, he realized maybe this won’t be so bad.

Little did he know how difficult it was. He needed to get this letter just right. He must have written each line at least two times before he was satisfied. Yoongi knew Seokjin. He knew that Seokjin didn’t like to display a lot of his true emotions in public, saving that only for anyone in his intimate circle. Did I say too much? Will he get mad? Embarrassed? Will Army find out? What will the others think?

Now in retrospect, he realizes he had no reason to stress. When he started speaking he tuned everything else out, and it was the easiest thing he had ever done. He didn’t care anymore, he was done hiding. It also didn’t hurt that Kim Taehyung’s teary love confession to his self proclaimed soulmate stole the show. For once he’s grateful for their shameless asses.

It was all worth it to render his chatterbox of a hyung speechless.

He takes a sip of his beer and muses at the progression of their relationship.

Kim Seokjin, his fellow trainee.

Kim Seokjin, his band mate.

Kim Seokjin, his boyfriend.

But perhaps his favorite, Kim Seokjin, his roommate. His eternal roommate.

His roommate who has come so far in his singing and dancing, and works twice as hard because he feels the need to constantly prove himself—which is a blasphemous concept to Yoongi—. His roommate who despite all the doubt, negativity, and disappointment always puts the other members first and does whatever he can to make them laugh; even if it means embarrassing himself and by proxy Yoongi.

He’s so damn proud.

And so much in love.

Damn, when did he become Namjoon? It’s nauseating.

He can’t help but think of the future as well. Despite what their album says, they can’t be young forever. Military service, a diminishing fanbase, disbandment. All an eventuality. And while he can’t help the twinge of sadness and fear in his chest, not once does he imagine a future without Kim Seokjin. He surprises even himself with the thought. If he’s being honest, he’s never had the time to contemplate his future, his relationship, and whatever that entailed.

But the more he thinks about it, it becomes clear. Their relationship has always been so simple. And that’s what he loves about it. Unlike all the struggles Yoongi’s endured in the past 25 years, their relationship somehow just fell into their laps and molded itself around them. He’s not exactly sure when their relationship clearly started. Whatever they started with progressed into what they have now. So natural and so simple. It’s becoming painfully obvious to him now.

He won’t lie and say that he hasn’t thought of it before. How can he not with a man like Seokjin? His gentle, supportive, kind, childish, loving Seokjin.

The more and more he thinks about it, the more and more he falls in love with the idea.

Kim Seokjin, his husband.

It has a damn nice ring to it. Yoongi grins to himself. He’ll have to remember that when he asks him to be his groommate.

He doesn’t know when that is, but that’s okay. Yoongi’s already excited for it.

“You look like an idiot.” Yoongi snaps his head towards the amused voice and tilts his head up to see Seokjin smiling down at him. Yoongi realizes from the slight soreness of his cheeks, he’s been smiling this whole time.

Seokjin shakes his head fondly, “Can I sit here?” as he points to the spot right next to him. Yoongi nods as he turns back to look at the ocean. There’s a comfortable stretch of silence as they take everything in. They never did have to say much.

Seokjin clears his throat, “So, that letter.” Now it’s Yoongi’s turn to clear his throat.

“Yeah I uhh just wrote kinda in the moment, I don’t really kno—“Yoongi stumbles as his mind starts to race. Did he not like it?

“Thank you,” Seokjin whispers back. His head is bowed as he stares at his feet hanging off the side of the boat. “I know doing that stuff in front of cameras isn’t really your thing.”

Yoongi immediately relaxes. He takes in his hyung’s side profile as he still refuses to look up. He can tell he’s nervous just by the way his fingers keep fidgeting at his side and by the way he anxiously gnaws his plump lips.

“What can I say hyung, the rules never applied to you,” Yoongi says with a rueful smile on his face.

Seokjin finally looks up with shining eyes and he just takes everything in. It’s almost too much for him. When did he get so lucky?

He wets his lips nervously before turning his body, “Yoongi?” He takes Yoongi’s silence as an okay to continue. “Can I…ca—…can I kiss you?” he asks quietly, peering up to see his reaction.

Yoongi doesn’t say anything. He gently pulls Seokjin shirt until he’s close enough and grabs his face with both hands. He stops when they’re a centimeter apart. They both break out into a soft smile before Yoongi closes the distance and kisses Seokjin. And Seokjin kisses him back.

They’re vaguely aware of cheering in the background, but they pay no attention as they pull away. Seokjin has unshed tears in his eyes as he shakily laughs, “What’s wrong?” Yoongi murmurs as he strokes his cheeks. “Fuck I don’t know I’m just really happy and I love you,” Seokjin whines as he buries his face in Yoongi’s shoulder, trying to calm himself down. Yoongi just laughs as he runs his hand through Seokjin’s soft hair.

A few minutes pass by like this before Seokjin softly says, “You know, with the way you were reading that letter, a part of me really thought you were going to ask me to marry you or something.” Yoongi can’t do anything but smile before he builds up the courage to respond.

He clears his throat before gruffly asking, “Would that have been so bad?”

And by the look of Seokjin’s warm smile, he knows his answer.

~~~
The excitement from the dance party and the booze wears off and the members find themselves lounging in a circle, just quietly enjoying the cool ocean breeze running across their faces. With the cameras turned off they don’t need to fill the silence with constant chatter, comfortable just with each other’s presence.
Everyone takes in the calm before the storm. Knowing when they step back into Korea they’ll be swept up in the flurry of interviews, album preparation, overseas tours.
While he’s ready to go back home, Yoongi secretly laments. He won’t be able to hold Seokjin in his arms and bury his face in his neck like he does right now, out in the open, without a care in the world.
Maybe someday he muses.
His thoughts are interrupted, “Not to be that guy, but Jimin hyung you need to pay up,” Jimin scoffs and turns to look at Jungkook’s open hand reached out expectantly.
“First of all, you had all our money and second of all, the bet was off the minute you cheated.”
“It’s only cheating if one of them found out about the bet dumbass, it’s not my fault I’m more resourceful than you,” Jungkook retorts. “Wait you guys bet on them?” Hobi asks incredulously, “what the fuck what about us??” Jungkook and Jimin shrug their shoulders simultaneously, “maknae line privileges, sorry.”
Before Hobi has a chance to argue back, Taehyung shoots up from his place in Jimin’s lap, “You traitors!” pointing accusingly at his fellow maknae line members. Jimin is quick to placate with a soft kiss, “I would have bought something for the both of anyways,” he coos as he runs his fingers through Tae’s hair comfortingly, “besides you can’t be trusted to keep your mouth shut.”
Almost immediately Taehyung is appeased, never mind the backhanded insult.
Having kept quiet out of disinterest, Yoongi finally growls, “Alright what the fuck is going on?”
“Hyung please, it was so obvious you and Jin hyung were together despite you guys trying to act ~stealthy~ so we bet on when you would finally tell us.”
What!? They knew? Yoongi can’t even begin to form clear thoughts. All these years of having to be maddeningly subtle everywhere they went and they knew. How long? Who else knew? Does management know? All these questions were swirled around in his head and before he has a chance to blow everything out of proportion, he’s shaken out of his mini meltdown.
“Yeah and I would have won if Jungkook hadn’t interfered!” Jimin throws his arms up. Jungkook eyes widen innocently, “I have no idea what you’re talking about hyung!” he smiles widely at an open-jawed Yoongi, “Yoongi hyung did that all on his own, right hyung?”
Yoongi can do nothing but stare at the beaming maknae in disbelief. This fucking brat.
“You be—you what—so yo—how—what—how dar—“Yoongi splutters shaking his head, face turning a bright red. Seokjin decides to take pity on his boyfriend and speaks up for the first time, “I can’t believe you didn’t let me in on the bet,” he whines, lolling his head back on Yoongi’s shoulders, “I’ve been meaning to buy Jjangu a Mario outfit.” He adds with an easy shrug, “Plus it would have been fun to make some profit off my—wait….what do you win?”
Yoongi looks down at Seokjin like he’s gone insane but Seokjin just flashes him a sweet smile and he start to forget the rant he had been forming in his head for his dongsaengs. He can get his revenge later.
“I’m not at liberty to discuss,” Jungkook airily replies.
“I feel so betrayed,” Hobi quips, and soon whatever semblance of peace soon falls to the sounds of vehement protest and chaotic bickering.
Namjoon knew the quiet was too good to be true as he shakes his head and looks up to the sky, sending a quick prayer to whatever gods are listening, “give me strength.”
Just another day.
~~~

“Hyung.”

“Hmm?” Seokjin’s voice is muffled from being nestled into the back of Yoongi’s neck. All the exhaustion from the previous weeks come crashing down as he’s cuddled in his bed, comforted by the familiar warmth of their dorm and his boyfriend next to him.

“Hyung. I’ve been doing some research.”

“And?”

“You know where would be a nice place to get married?”

“Where Yoongichi?”

“Vegas.”

~~~
Notes:
Then a month later they got married in Vegas and no one can convince me otherwise.
